Shouldn't there be a AMD value selection? Or even better GPU value?

I think everyone agrees that the AMD cards are much cheaper and higher performance for the same money. I would have thought AMD would be included especially there.

There should be a best bang for the buck card poll as the AMD 7950 should easily win that spot.

With the new BIOS they all run @ 1200mhz on the core and beat 680s every day of the week for about 2/3 the price. thumb.gif
Success.

I'm so happy that people understands that AMD can beat Nvidia pretty easy.
I'm turning in my 7870 (All those have malfunctions as it seems) against a 7950, and i only have to pay 20 Euro for it!

Otherwise the 7870's would be a good low-price-card if it wasnt for that malfunction.

*nods* I keep hearing good things about the 7950s plus they come cheap ~200 if you look regularly found around $240~

The 7970 is only 70 Euro more. So AMD's are pretty cheap for giving supergood quality.

Maybe they should give a price bracket... <250 I'd say the 7950 would kill basically any card out there

<300 there isn't anything for me that the 7950 can't beat

<$350 it's the 7970 probably even the lower ones and reference design is coming up around that price now.

However, that's still $100 difference and a big enough gap in price. In a value build for ~$600 I'd fit a 7950 into it but I wouldn't be able to push a 7970 in.

Well, i'f i would build an rig that would come out cheap.. I would build one that i can upgrade later on.
Like a good chassi, good PSU and processor and maybe a little weaker grapfic's card.

But i guess all people have different taste!

Have to agree. I am not a fanboy of anything, I just go with what gives the best bang for the bucks I have. And my last 3 cards have all been AMD, 5670->6870->7950, purely because they are a lot cheaper than what nVidia are selling for equivalent performance.

And yeah the 7950's overclock like crazy. Currently running mine at only 1Ghz, 50-55'C under load. You have to love AMD driver releases. A slight bump in performance every once in a while is a nice thing thumb.gif

I've got to agree here. The 7950 is the sweet spot across the board right now for quality and performance. Kepler may have more efficiency, but most people run more PSU than they need, so no biggie really.
If it were up for vote, I'd vote the Gigabyte 7950 Windforce 3. I plan on buying it soon (Black Friday or Cyber Monday sale hopefully) and everything I've seen and read just makes it the best value by far.
