FYI there are white molex connectors for Seasonic PSUs ooops sorry, they're natural (ivory I think)
Big difference between them, color wise. I have ordered Molex connectors that were listed as ivory, that were sort of an off-white. Others were what I would call white.

There are now more places stocking white connectors for SeaSonic. But when I assembled all mine, my main source was modDIY in Hong Kong, where I got the 24, 18, 12 & 10 pin connectors. wink.gif This after getting the "off white" connectors that were listed as being made by Molex.

A light spray with a white primer for plastic would fix that!wink.gif

Connectors are made of smooth nylon, you need a specialised primer. Sanding roughly helps.

White Plastidip is an easy alternative because it sticks well to nylon.

I actually tried painting some connectors and I wasn't totally satisfied. But in the end, I found all white connectors for my SeaSonic...but I'm pretty sure they weren't all made by Molex.
The problem with Molex "Ivory" is that they aren't always a nice white color. Or at least specifically one I still have in my toolbox, which is a 12 pin connector that is almost a very light tan color.

I did paint some mini Tamiya connectors that I use for 12v/ground to my pumps with Krylon for plastics that turned out OK.

In regards to the cables.hillsidekonnection.com stuff in the original post - I can re-upload those pages if needed; probably not with the sub-domain any more though

Don't know if it's of any help, but i found this page to a company that makes the same Receptacle Housing that is on my Corsair AXi 760, 860 1200 and HX 1050, the only thing I couldn't find is the 8 pin PCI-e receptable

Just do a search in Google, Ebay etc. for 'Mini-Fit Jr'

Realize this thread hasn't been updated in a while, and figured I'd share some of what I've found regarding the use of gold-plated vs tin-plated terminals, since I've seen a lot of inconsistent info regarding that, including in this forum (and needed the info for my own build)

Summing up what I've found, it seems the viability of using one or the other in your cabling connections could depend on how many times those connections are made over the course of their use (e.g., life cycle), and whether or not those connections are subject to excessive vibration (e.g., fan, pump, lack of strain relief, etc.). Toss in the propensity of some enthusiasts to change out things regularly, and durability might become questionable (there are cabling related posts by people in the forum which may be related to that).

Of special interest are fretting and fretting corrosion, which the referenced docs I linked to explain fairly clearly, albeit briefly.

All in all, I think the issue boils down to one of a matter of YMMV more than anything else; which could be dependent on your particular use case example, and just how much of a concern something like matched material is in your electrical conductors. Sort of like the question of to cap (or not) any cables you build yourself.

Remember the 901. Edited 05/16/17: it's possible this link may now be dead. Essentially, it linked to an older USAF document that broke out all the codes associated with how man hour time was tracked on work orders. "901" referred to a generally used descriptive catch-all where intermittent issues were experienced, often leading to fixes like "remove and replaced unit, ops check good," or simply ops or bench checked good," no problems noted. "901s" could be and were problematic, especially if they were repeat issues, forcing technicians to change something (e.g., anything) just to say that they did as a process of elimination, usually at the request of higher ups.

Summed up, IOW: If you can't find an issue when you're troubleshooting a complaint, you won't know what to fix.

References:

The rule of thumb used to be mating pins should be plated using the same materials if you want avoid problems. See Golden Rule No.12 : Gold Contacts Should Not Be Mated To Tin Contacts in this linked AMP Technical Report. While the doc is somewhat older, its principles should be more or less still applicable.

Hello,

Can you confirm my reading that the connectors required to connect to an EVGA 1200P2 PSU (Super Flower Leadex basis) are all findable at Molex ? Sorry if the questions sound obvious, but it's hard to check on the Molex website since the visual doesn't always match the connector.

CPU = Molex mini-fit Jr 39-01-3085 ?
VGA = it looks like Molex http://www.molex.com/molex/products/datasheet.jsp?part=active/0455590002_CRIMP_HOUSINGS.xml, but would be an 8pin version

I am trying to make custom cables from A to Z, which would involve getting the right connectors to plug on the PSU.
