Looking to pick up my first intel board

I've finally converted over to the intel family and gotten myself a 3770k ivy bridge CPU and just wanted to get some suggestions on a good mb. I'm mainly just looking to do a small oc to about 4.3-4.5 on air (till I get a liquid setup since ivy tends to heat up more) and was wondering what people typically look for when buying a motherboard? What specifically on mbs effects how well you can oc on it? Or do people just spend more for more sata ports, space, pcie slots and so on? Sorry for all the noob questions. I would usually just get mbs based off reviews and suggestions but I kinda wanna learn what exactly effects what and what to look for when buying mbs now and in the future. My budget would probably be around $200max or maybe more if it really is worth it but lower would be better haha.

Some people do

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H is good no compromise board for everyday overclocking purposes. Gigabyte recently released UD4H which adds few perks from UD5H but still keeps price low. These three boards have about the same quality VRM, so choice by features.

Biostar Z77 boards are also good budget OC boards.

As you get closer to $200 - Asus P8Z77-V, Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP4 and previously mentioned UD5H are also good choices. Extreme6 is not recommended by me unless goes 10-15% cheaper than those three.

What does the UD4h and UD5h and UP4 mean exactly? I see those on a lot of mbs are they just to differentiate different models/newer versions by that manufacturer?

How do you know if the VRM is good?
