Thread Starter
Either I get a 2500k+z68 motherboard for $250~.. or I wait it out for Haswell. My original plan was to wait, but my local (15min away) microcenter is probably going to stock up on some more $100 2500Ks very soon. I'm unsure of what Haswell will yield thinking.gif
I play a lot of BF3.. nothing much else really. Planning to go underwater as well quite soon thumb.gif

If you are doing nothing more than gaming, and do not want to show off to your e-friends, just get the 2500k. $100 is insane.

If anyone is looking to build or upgrade a desktop PC and has access to a microcenter you would have to be insane to not go buy that 2500k for $100. If I had access I would buy two. Haswell should be decently faster but its not going to come close to the performance per dollar of that 2500k.

Haswell is centered around mobility, so Intel's goal is to lower the power draw and increase efficiency. That and they also wanted to have some integrated graphics improvements (the effort in doing so I think is a bit futile unless they can make their integrated graphics on die just as powerful as AMD's APUs, but that would be sad for me to see though since the APU basically can no longer compete unless it kicks up CPU or GPU power). We'll probably see only a small performance increase and some more overclocking headroom, so I would say just get the 2500K considering they're only $100 at Microcenter (I would get one but I don't have access to one nearby for a first build) which is pretty drool-worthy.
