Node 304 PSU : M12II vs HX650 which one is quieter?

Hi I currently have M12II in my node 304, I borrowed it to test if it will fit with Asus GTX670 directCUII. And Luckily I have to say it does (look at the pic), I"m was able to attach 1 molex + 1 sata + 2 e-PCI modular cables, it's a tight fit but it works. I know some people were wondering if it could fit and it does, very tight but it does.

So now I'm a bit at a crossroad I have Hx650 (150 - Bronze) still in shrink wrap that I ordered for this build specifically or M12II 620. I'm asking your opinion, which do you think is better and most importantly quieter?

Isn't the HX650 gold rated? I'm pretty sure it is. Anyway, if it is gold rated then it will be quieter smile.gif

Yes and No smile.gif Corsair made it confusing basicly there are 2 models:

HX-650 Bronze - 150mm (will fit in Node 304)

http://www.corsair.com/professional-series-hx650-80-plus-bronze-certified-modular-power-supply.html

HX-650 Gold - 160 mm (will not fit in Node 304 with GTX 670)

http://www.corsair.com/en/power-supply-units/hx-series-power-supply-units/hx-series-hx650-power-supply-650-watt-80-plus-gold-certified-modular-psu.html

So yeah I have bronze on my hands because it's the only one that will fit

Ah, that is confusing wink.gif In that case they would probably both be around the same noise wise. Unless you're really stressing the PSU, you won't hear it most of the time. As you're using a GTX 670 which is very power efficient you'll never hit that point biggrin.gif

Yeah, from this point of view I should go for HX650 (extra 30 Watt, not much but still). I also like the way HX-650 looks black sleeves for modular cables, modular connecters in two rows, 4 6-pin Connectors, seems like a bit better package overall.

But there is a major problem M12II has 140mm fan, while HX650 has 120mm fan. I'm afraid it might be louder because of this. Then again I found a review on German website where it says that HX650 is 19.5 dB at 20% and 21.5 dB at 50%, which seems to me very quiet. Too bad I can't find such a table for M12II frown.gif

Go with the Corsair, I always do biggrin.gif You'll hear the case fans/graphics card over the PSU anyway so it will never be an issue thumb.gif

I have the "old" HX650 and it's still quiet.

the flat cables helps too, and I dismantled them, separating each little cable, now the are even more flexibe, and looks like sleeved.... lol

an old case with it
