This is literally America protecting Apple.

Its an American company being granted outrageous patents by American patent offices and outrageous fines in American court rooms.

This has been my sentiment on the entire thing. I noticed it started not long after the economy took a nosedive. Although probably not true, I did wonder if this was Apples way of 'keeping afloat'.

No-one deserves that... I actually quite liked Apple until 2009. And I still think Wozniak is a wonderful person.

Patented by IBM.

You've got a point, more technological lawsuits would be more likely to earn Apples favor because, let's face it, the Jury isn't likely to know exactly what it is, but if it's something the Jury is almost certain to have been exposed to, then they will likely rule in favor of the oposition, suddenly this patent doesn't seem as worrying.

It's the patent system's fault. Make silly things like this unpatentable and problem solved.
