Problem getting G-Skill Ripjaws F3-14900CL10D-16GBXL 1866 MHz ram to run at 1866

Thread Starter
I have a Gigabyte GA-Z68x-UDH3-B3 (rev 1.0) motherboard and was previously using 2 x 4GB kit of F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL ram running at 1866. I wanted to double my ram but couldn't find another identical kit at my local computer store so I bought a new 2 x 8 GB kit (F3-14900CL10D-16GBXL) instead.

It supports XMP and and I have two profiles to choose from. Profile 1 will run at 1600 MHz and I can run this without issue. Profile 2 runs the ram at 1866 MHz but my box doesn't want to post. It just tries and resets the bios saying that I tried to oc something and it doesn't work.

I went in and set the timings and command rate to the ram factory settings as well as ensured that it was running at 1.5 v which my ram and boad is rated for. Doesn't want to work.

I messed around with the timings with the new ram and got it to run at 1600 MHz with 8-8-8-22 1N. I wanted to see if I could get it to run at 1866 if someone on here could possibly help...

Should I just keep it at 1600 MHz with those timings? Should I return and put my 2x4 GB back in and maybe order another set online to make it 16 GB at 1866? Not sure.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated. smile.gif

try setting tRFC to 300 and tWCL to 8 manually in BIOS
you might also want to raise the Vccsa voltage to around 1.10ish
