1600 RAM on a 1333 Board

Thread Starter
I have a Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2P

It has an old crappy NVIDIA® GeForce 7025 / nForce 630a chipset. Under memory on the specifications it says "Support for DDR3 1333(OC)/1066/800 MHz memory modules".

Now I have 1600MHz sticks and I am able to set the Memory Clock to x8 (1600) and it seems stable. I'm wondering If I;m running the risk of damaging anything?

youll be fine. if its stable its stable. as long as you dont push too much voltage everything will be safe AS LONG AS ITS STABLE.

Thats because your board supports Overclock, your memory is running at the speed its supposed to, the board its being pushed beyond specifications but as long as you deliver the right voltage and is stable you are fine.

1.50V works for both 1600 Mhz and 1333

go for it mate. You shouldn't have a problem.

It should work fine. Even if you have to increase your voltage to 1.65 it won't be a problem.
