If you can't get the Gigabyte card in your place go for Sapphire HD 7970 OC. dual x cooler is good. and the sapphire cards are generally voltage unlocked. the model you can look for is 11197-10-40G . uses a brown colour reference HD 7970 PCB.

the older sapphire HD 7970 OC with brown PCB is not voltage locked. its been very popular in these forums for its overclocking. OP ask in the HD 7900 users thread if you want confirmation.

But I am right to assume that if I walk into a store and buy a brand new one it will be locked?
OP would have no warranty that is card is unlocked, unless he buy it second hands.

The brown pcb ones are old. They where made before amd told every company to add voltage lock so they are unlocked. Just dont update the bios and it eill be uncloked ! İ heard that even drivers lock the cards but i dont know if ita not true or not. Today i will be getting the brown pcb version ill write back to you if its unlocked or not biggrin.gif hope its unlocked and id bet it is since every one is saying its unlocked biggrin.gif
