Best Graphics Card for my system??? - Page 3

OK, so I got the new card in and it does seem a step or two faster.... my other graphics card froze up a couple of times while doing some graphics work, so I'm glad to have this upgrade to try out. So far, this new one is not making a bunch of noise like the other one was.

One thing that seemed odd that my monitor started doing that it never did before... it started having all the horizontal lines flickering across it as I was installing the graphics card driver... and I know that may be somewhat normal during driver installation, but after all was done and I re-booted... it did it again.

So, I turned the monitor itself off, and then back on again and it went away. Mine monitor is an older on from about 5 years ago (Samsung LCD 24" 5MS 245BW R), but as long as it keeps working OK I see no need to replace it yet.

I'm downloading Windows Updates right now, and there is actually an optional update specifically for the monitor I have... so I'm going to install that since I had not been able to find an updated driver for my monitor any more recent than 2007 so maybe this will help.

Still getting occasional horizontal flickering on my monitor screen.... I'm assuming maybe there is something
wrong with my monitor cause I have a brand new cable and a brand new graphics cards with the latest driver.

Who makes a really good 24'' monitor?

On the other hand... when it does this, I turn it off and it seems to be OK.

Can anyone speculate if this is my monitor, or the new graphics card I installed... based on experience?

It didn't do it the past couple of days... but I'm still wondering what this may be?

which driver version have you installed. 12.10 whql or 12.11 beta. does the flicker happen randomly when you are working on any application.

It happens just occasionally and it is random... all I've been doing is turning the monitor off, and then right back on and it goes way.

I'm using the Radeon HD 7850 2GB with driver 12-10_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql_net4 downloaded from AMD

It never did this on the previous two graphics card. I'm just wondering if maybe my monitor (Samsung Syncmaster 245BW purchased in 2008) was crappin out er somethin.

if you can check with another monitor if the problem exists. then you can look to narrow down the problem to the graphics card.
