Some AlienWare things are pretty nice I would say. They are made by DELL are they not ? Now if I would have to actually buy them then ofc I would not do that - I can build better/cheaper myself as I'm kinda hardware enthusiast wink.gif But if I would get to pick something free I would probably pick some reasonably good Alienware rig.

3. You attempt to force gamers to purchase your products but since we PC elitists don't like being bullied into new products most will probably just pirate your annoying new Operating System. Which leads you back to square 1.
4. Windows 7 works just fine, why in gods name would I upgrade? Mac OSX only costs 20 - 30$ to upgrade and it's simple to do. But for us Windows Users, upgrades fail 1/2 of the time and cost 40-50$.
Sincerely Me,
P.S. You're going about it all wrong.
I'm no fan of Windows 8, but what you're saying about upgrades in just nonsense. Apple releases a new OS every year. Microsoft releases a new OS every 3 years. Apple charges $30 for an upgrade. Microsoft is charging $40 for a Windows 8 upgrade. In a 3 year time-span an Apple user will have spent $90 on OSX upgrades while a Windows user will have spent $40. I also have no idea what you're referring to when you say upgrades fail half the time. It seems to me that the upgrade process is almost identical to the Windows 7 upgrade process which we had no problems with.

Also I'm sure the amount of people pirating Windows 8 is far less than previous versions of Windows due to the drastic price cuts on upgrade media.

If I'm going for ARM op system I'll better get Android anyway - cheaper, more open and ARM is not compatible anyway with any legacy stuff I want to run. If I need to run legacy stuff then I have my desktop system. One tap on my 7'' 120 euro ARM tablet with nice 1280x800 IPS screen and I have my Desktop in that little device through TeamViewer. All 5400x1920 pixels with Matlab, CAD, Python and anything else I want running.

No, Windows 8 has been fully released for desktops and laptops. You're confusing the ARM surface and the i5 surface variants. I don't believe you can even run an ARM OS on an x86 CPU. Microsoft has released their ARM version of the surface tablet, the x86 i5 version will be released in 2013.

The Surface Pro running Windows 8 has not been released yet, but other Windows 8 tablets running IB have been released. From what I read, these tablets are rare and hard to get.

The consumer is more susceptible to nickle and diming than larger upgrade costs. While your logic holds, cheaper is still cheaper at the time. People are much more willing to spend 20 than 40 and even 29.99 than 30.00.

I've had 1 upgrade fail and my friend has had XP -> Vista and Vista -> 7 fail.

Well they sure aren't getting the sales are they. And OSX is, the numbers don't lie. I do hate OSX though, one unstable line of code in my program in Xcode and the entire computer locks up. bleh

Precision or Elitebook class laptops. Or anything with PowerEdge in the name.

Or anything at all from Lenovo.

You really need to play with more enterprise level hardware if you think Dell and HP make nothing nice.

They aren't for you or other normal consumers, thus they don't sell well... until you get into Enterprise.

Dell and HP aren't big because they give you the good stuff, they're big because they give companies the good stuff, and charge and arm and a leg to guarantee it works. Like Quadro, FirePro, Xeon, Opteron, or anything else that's "server grade".

This, hopefully Microsoft gets the message that the real world users don't want a bloated tablet user interface running all the time.

Windows 8 was a failure of a product to game crazed people across the map. We don't need the fancy looking tablet interface we need to be able to have a user friendly interface that allows us to quickly move around. We change files all the time. We are constantly using out desktop and task bar. Microsoft removed the start button which a lot of us use. They truly are trying to make the market go to tablets but we don't want tablets we want our gaming PC. Gaming is best done on Windows 7 and XP... Hands down before I even think about the switch to windows 8 they need to revise it. My two cents have been given.
