I'll mostly be on youtube, doing school work or playing Guild wars 2. Other than GW2 I might play Diablo 3 or crysis 3. I like the build I have In my 1st post ahts for 460 but I really want to bring it down to 400 or under. I'm open to all changes other then changing cases.

I personally recommend AMD for its prices. If you got money to throw around by all means go with Intel, but AMD does prove cheaper.

The FX-6300 fails between the i3 and i5. i5s are same prices as the FX-8320.

The only reason I mentioned changing the case is because of your low budget, in that case its looks > performance.

What monitor are you going to be looking at? In terms of resolution.

You could get away with a HD 7770 depending on the resolution. In my experience I am able to run Crysis fine at 1440x900, so bare in mind after that the HD 7770 may need some medium graphical settings so not to dip in fps.

I would stay in the 7000 series just because you can get away with a lower power supply wattage smile.gif

The FX-6300 beats the i3 3200 and in fact is closer to i5 level, plus its cheaper.

It's not really anywhere near an i5 for gaming only uses. It is slightly better than an i3 for games that use more than 2 cores, which is not too many. Almost all games will use a maximum of 4 cores (with a couple of exceptions), but a majority are still single or dual threaded. An i3 and a 6 core FX will perform almost identical in most games. Only certain games, one will perform better than the other.

Yeah in games the FX is behind, but most general benchmarks used it is quite near.

Single threaded is where FX lacks, multi threaded is where it shines.
