Which security software should I use? - Page 2

MSE really isn't fine. In every test that I've seen in recent months MSE has been doing every bit as bad as Mcaffe if not worse. I'm looking into a new AV. I mostly rely on malwarebytes at the moment since I know that MSE is useless.

Saying it's not good is very, one sided. Look at the test results. All of the AV scanners are with 1-10% of each other.

That's pretty darned good.

Which test? I posted three of them and MSE placed at or near the bottom in every one of them.

In the dennistechnology lab test MSI let through 15 viruses compared to Norton's 2 and Kaspersky's 0. It let through more than Mcaffe. It also let 28 other exploits run before neutralizing them unlike Norton's 0 and Kaspersky's 1.

It didn't come close to within 10% of the industry standard on day 0 malware according to AV-test.

MSE is the most over rated anti-virus program on the market and people on the forums just blindly defend it. Thats not going to help improve these faults.

I guess that if you're in the overly cautious side of things, kaspersky.

I think the point being made is that with better-than-average or beyond-moderate knowledge of use of computers (IE ... common sense) MSE suffice quite well....

Not that it's 'the best', but that combined with far-better-than average use of the web/services, it's often more than enough. redface.gif
