Games with Enjoyable Campaigns

Thread Starter
Not sure why, but I've never enjoyed online game play. There have been quite a few games over the years with enjoyable Campaigns and unfortunately, it seems like there are less and less in recent years.

I wouldn't say there is any set guide to making an enjoyable campaign it's just an overall feeling. While story line, characters, and graphics certainly play a role it doesn't necessarily mean a success if you have all those things.

Anyways, main point of this thread is to spark my interest to play another game. Haven't really played any games since BF3 last spring/summer. Certainly doesn't need to be anything recent, and it doesn't even need to be out yet.

Just post a game, or multiple, where you enjoyed the campaign and maybe a little bit why you liked it.

Thanks cheers.gif

Bioshock's a good one if you haven't played it yet - Creepy, interesting gameplay (the flexibility of your abilities), dont play in a dark room
Assassin's Creed is decent (gameplay gets a little repetitive) - who doesn't want to be a master assassin? and if you're a history buff, this is a pretty interesting game (they twist history a bit, but in a cool way)
GTA V when it comes out (I also like GTA IV too) - free range gaming, take missions if you want, and I mean you can totally do all the missions and advance the gameplay, but you'll never get to drive around the city or fly a chopper around, or lead police on a massive car chase, etc, etc. Tons of things to do when not on mission
The original Portal, at least try it tongue.gif
I can't think of any others off the top of my head...

Hey Cole, how've you been? Sweet rig you got there smile.gif

I know it sounds cheesy, but I enjoyed the campaign in Battlefield 3. The Call of Duty series isn't bad (MW and BO), but not as good IMO.
I'm currently playing Dead Space and Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and the latter really has a good campaign. Very enjoyable gameplay too.
If you like andventures, I'd check out The Walking Dead series.

Stay far, far away of Medal Of Honor: Warfighter!

I only play single player stuff (aside from co-op stuff like Borderlands or Diablo), and I play a lot of games. Here's my all-time favorite single player campaigns (PC only, minimum of DX9), in roughly descending order ...

1) Stalker - Shadow of Chernobyl
2) Half Life 2
3) FEAR
4) Prey
5) Bioshock
6) Half Life 2 - Episode 2
7) Fallout 3
8) Stalker - Call of Pripyat
9) Deus Ex - HR
10) ME2

Honorable Mention: Fallout - NV, ME3, Alan Wake, Oblivion/Skyrim, both Portal games, all the Prince of Persia games, Max Payne 3, Just Cause 2, Far Cry, both Crysis games, Hitman - Blood Money, Splinter Cell - Chaos Theory, Doom 3, Titan Quest, Dungeon Siege 2, Metro 2033, Darksiders (both 1 & 2 are great), BFBC2 (single player is actually really good), Assassin's Creed 2, Rayman Origins,Batman Arkham Asylum/City, both Dead Space games, Singularity, Spec Ops - The Line ... and of course the Borderlands games, although those are better with friends by far.

Everything in the above list(s) you can't go wrong with, IMHO.

Some decent games if you've played everything else, and can get 'em cheap: Sacred 2, Mafia 2, all the Kings Bounty games (if you like the HOMM style of gameplay), Tomb Raider - Legend or Underworld, FEAR 2, Bulletstorm.

Single player games that I really thought were weak/are to be avoided: Far Cry 2, Rage, CoD MW2, BF3, Homefront. F3AR.

RAY!!! specool.gif How are you?! I've been well, and thanks, rig was kind of a gift to myself for accomplishing so much this past year. haha.

Nothing cheesy about that, I enjoyed it as well. MW3 I didn't enjoy so much, same as all other CoD stuff I have played. Except CoD 2, lol, loved that game.

Thanks smile.gif

Wow! Thank you!, that is quite a list. Any particular reason you would suggest avoiding BF3? I didn't like the MW3 campaign but though BF3 was half-decent.

Yeah, Metro is enjoyable, played it on my old 480 sli setup, might give that another go.

mass effect series, (on ME3, you need to quit the game after Anderson dies or you'll hate yourself and Bioware) dragon age ORIGINS including all DLC's. (DA2 sux so don't bother) Skyrim was decent campaign wise, tho not as strong as Bioware games IMO.
