Now that former Windows Division president Steven Sinofsky is out of the picture, there's speculation that Microsoft may add the traditional Start menu back into the Windows platform. Currently Microsoft isn't commenting on the subject, but an article published by USA Today points to the possibility.

And?

Windows 8 is going to need much more than that done for people to like it. Absolutely useless OS. It will be cast into the shadows of Windows 7's greatness.

It has kernel improvements, random memory allocation (no overflow based attacks pretty much), quite a few orders of magnitude of improvements to chkdsk, and so much more.

Get used to it.

This would be all my complaints done.

Allow me to use start menu, remove/not see metro and I'm a happy camper. I'll install if this is done.

I'll be able to upgrade all the PC's in the house and start recommending Windows 8 to people.

I can't recall a time when Microsoft has ever done something quite like bringing the Start menu back to 8... I wouldn't get your hopes up. But I wouldn't be surprised if it happened, either.

Everything other than Metro is an unarguable improvement in every way I can conceive. Unless you wish to tell me something I don't know about the OS that I have been using every single day, for months.

Even Metro isn't a big deal. Seeing as the only time you should use the Start menu, Vista and up, is for searching. Everything else has more efficient routes now.

They should get rid of ribbon, as well, while they are at it.

The truth in article is about enterprise. WinXP to win7 transition was hard enough on many admins, this one will not be authorized.

Good reply. If they bring back the start menu choice and people still bash 8, they are hating just to be hating at that point. 8 is an undeniable improvement in almost every way other than the opinionated aesthetics aspects. The utility/performance, everything under the hood is pretty much undeniably improved.

I've been using it for several months now and have become very at ease with it. I rarely used the start menu to begin with but I find myself actually using the new one more and more. I have switched all my rigs over now and can't see going back. This is coming from someone that despised the OS after trying it for over 3 weeks in a VM with the DP and CP.
