Again, was joking. Unless you chose the classic theme, it's a 2007 desktop nonetheless. /Serious comment.
I would not mind full screen metro if I had a touchscreen monitor or was planning to get one, but last time I checked, none are available in my price range.
I don't even go to 4chan. You would have more use for it than I would.

You just used "greentext" with an "implying" statement. You go there for sure.

Close the Metro UI, back on desktop with nothing on it. Problem solved.

Having the Metro UI, for me, is part of the problem. I much prefer Aero, rounded corners and the lack of Metro. I find Metro to be ugly, cumbersome and unintuitive.

(see, I can play the veil my comments in an inflaming way, too.)

The long story short is this: If given the choice, Windows 8 would have more users and wouldn't affect any of you guys form using Metro if you so wished it. I don't get the contest or debate here. Why is there even any debate around giving end users the choice to use what they want?

Everyone is over reacting about this whole thing!

First people say they want everything to be customized and don't like the way windows looks.... well do you not remember windows 98 and up? They started out looking like crap but then people created programs to make windows look better and do different things!

Again, the start menu /button ...Let me ask you, what is it really? Look at your taskbar and you tell me what that thing looks like. Its just another ICON except it populates a list... To be honest we use shortcuts on our desktop more than we press that button a day, plus the taskbar itself is easy because you can pin programs to it, but you already know this!

To me Metro is the combination ( aborted baby) of the Start menu and the Taskbar.

In a business stand point, I could see this being really odd, but at the same time in a business situation windows is pretty much locked down anyways, so what does it matter? I think in some situations the start button can even be locked!

I chose not to respond to one of your comments on the previous page as I did not want to get in a conversation with you as I know it would end up having me be dead honest with you.
You choose not to use the desktop. You choose to use a UI not built for the desktop realm.
You have no credibility to me, honestly. I respect you for the dedication though. I hope you respect me by not trying to "help" me.

Hmmm, ask you a question, get a personal attack in response. Nice. thumb.gif

Not an attack, just honesty. If you don't like honesty, just ask. Thank you for reminding me about your question though. I had forgotten.
Why do I care about S.R.E.? Multiple reasons, most being with my eyes. I am used to 16:10 for starters. Full screen irritates my eyes in certain programs. Programs that have bright colors like this site for instance, if I run this site full screen, the main color can irritate my eyes. My eyes could handle the metro UI, but my hands would not. I could mentally know where everything is in the metro UI but never be able to adjust for it in full screen just using a mouse, but would be able to adjust with a touchscreen monitor.
So there is my main fault with being on a computer. I will never understand how people can handle their browser at full screen.

At this rate, we'll be using holographic screens in our brains and still have a standard windows UI.

I hope they don't bring back the start screen. Window's typical file system is godawful and the start menu is a reflection of that to some degree.

Also, keyboard commands and gesture are more efficient than clicking through multiple menus. Granted windows has already had hotkeys at least, but the ui was not optimized for them. Linux and osx, which are typically more forward thinking than windows, have already adopted these ui design elements for that reason.

When I read these threads, it typically seems to me that half the posters are elderly people rather than tech enthusiasts who want the best and greatest, even if it requires a little extra work on their part.

Look back at my quotes. I agree MS should give us the option to use either metro or the desktop. Only makes sense to me. Of course then I get told I have no credibility because I personally like to use metro... rolleyes.gif
