[TH] With Sinofsky Gone, Start Menu Could Return to Windows 8 - Page 5

It's not useless at all actually. It's fine. Really. It's just the initial learning curve

I've been using it for several months now and have become very at ease with it. I rarely used the start menu to begin with but I find myself actually using the new one more and more. I have switched all my rigs over now and can't see going back. This is coming from someone that despised the OS after trying it for over 3 weeks in a VM with the DP and CP.

And the above. I suggest to the haters A) Actually use it B) For more than 5 minutes.
And the 'under-the-hood' parts are significantly improved from Windows 7.

I think I'll go Win8 on my next build, whether this is true or not. I feel like a desktop with a Leap Motion and Win8 will be great, regardless of the start menu or not, but I still support bringing it back. It's too confusing for most people who are used to Windows

Are you crazy? Have you seen the task manager for windows 8 and the other improvements?

I'll wait until they put the start menu back in wink.gif I've both "£used it" and "for more than 5 minutes" it's terrible. I don't want it. I want the old start menu back so that I can carry on as I were.

It is of absolutely no consequence to Microsoft if I use the old SM. I'll be of no consequence to anyone else if I use it or not. So, I don't get these "use it" "get used to it" "you guys just need to learn how to use it better" posts.

Many, many of us have used it and don't want it. It wouldn't make a lick of difference to you or anyone else that uses it if MS enabled it again. So, I don't understand the vitriol against people that don't want the damn thing. We just want to have the choice! It won't hurt you guys so, really, stop being so horrible about it!

Flock, Windows 8 haters. Spread your Win7 feathers and whine more about Windows 8 cause you hate 'Metro' even though Win8 is faster at doing 99% of everything... go forward into every post that even mentions Windows 8 and tell us more about your 'superior but slower' OS.

I'll be able to upgrade all the PC's in the house and start recommending Windows 8 to people.

This.

Unfortunately, it will be a "Day late and a dollar short", or actually about $130 short, since by the time this feature goes into effect, IF it ever does, the introductory price will most likely be over. Besides, in my latest mega build that will keep me going at home for the next 4 years, I already went out and bought another legal copy of Windows 7 Professional. I really don't see a need to throw away a perfectly good OS for a couple trivial under the hood features that have yet to prove themselves, and most likely won't for at least 12-18 months to come.

Having said that, it will be good for systems that our company will have to support and sell to our customers to run our programs. We will just tell them to run our software in Windows 8 "Classic View" and be done.

I really hope that they make you have the option of either the traditional Start Menu or the new one because I prefer the new one and would like to keep using it

About the same for me on Windows 7 on an SSD. What takes forever is downloading all the patches that have accumulated after 3 years. Wait 3 years and see it Windows 8 won't take just as long. wink.gif
