Looking to build a new comp and was wondering if u guys could help out on CPU/CHIPSET front - Page 2

Ditch your plans for i7 cpu and go for a i5-3570k if you are planning on using the computer for mostly gaming, really the only benefits IME for the i7-3770k would be the faster encoding (hyperthreading really helps there...). I am really loving the Z77 chipset so far, and it will be less expensive than an X79 board. I'd definitely look into an ASUS ROG or Sabertooth board, I love my Sabertooth board.I just picked up the Corsair H100 and it is fantastic, if you have the space for it. I'd highly recommend any Corsair water-cooling set-up, build quality is top-notch for an enclosed system.

Get a EVGA 560 Ti or 660 Ti (if you are on a budget... I got a steal on an EVGA 560 Ti 2gb and it runs great), those 285's are antiques and definitely are what is bottle-necking your system. Out of curiosity how much RAM do you have and what frequency is it running at? Honestly, I think upgrading your graphics card will really bring your gaming performance up.

thx for the input,
do you think the HT dosent matter?
im looking to spend about 300 on GPU (thinking that when prices drop i will go sli later)
from what i saw the 770 looks like the best nvidia option, do you think amd or nvidia are the better pick right now (so far ive always bought nvidia wasnt in the mkt when amd was blowing out nvidia)

im also looking to spend around 200-300 on CPU and same for MOBO. Ive come down to either i5-4670k or i7-4770k or i7-4820k (leaning toward the 4820 because of specs, i agree the i5 is the best bang for the buck deal but im ok spending 100 more)

Thanks again,
Sebastian
