Title - Yes or no? I don't see any reason why refurbished would make a difference since its been factory reinspected.

Well when its been refurbished, does the factory check for backlight bleed issues, dead pixels, and etc? Or just to make sure that the monitor is functional.

I purchased refurbed stuff before...I've never had an issue. It should still come with a little bit of warranty and with monitors I've found if they don't die in a few weeks they will last years.

If you wiki the term reburbished - it doesnt sound too bad at all

"The key difference between "refurbished" and "used" products is that refurbished products have been tested and verified to function properly, and are thus free of defects, while used products may or may not be defective. Refurbished products may be unused customer returns that are essentially "new" items, or they may be defective products that were returned under warranty, and resold by the manufacturer after repairing the defects and ensuring proper function.[1]"

In all honesty, a refurbished item has probably had more testing then a lot of brand new items, but then so have used items provided you trust the source that was using them.

but this all depends on the company...I have heard of people opening boxes to find "refurbished" items that were physically and obviously broken...never has happened to me though, and they just had to send it back and they got a functioning one, but there is no way they did any testing on something like that.

I bought 2 refurbished monitors and both came out fine. I saved quite about 40% to boot. Both were bought on eBay from the same reseller, though one looked brand new and had the originaly shrink wrap on it, the other had obviously used casing with swirlies and scratches in the finish. Nothing too deep or overly noticeable though. I just cleaned and polished it.

I bought my 120hz monitor as a 'refurb' for about £30. That was 18 months ago and other than a slightly noisy inductor squealing when displaying high spatial frequency images it's perfect.
