Hi everybody, I REALLY loved Fallout 3. I probably spent over 200 hours there.

I've been waiting for Fallout 4 to be released, but it's taking too damn long!

Are there any other games like Fallout 3?

(Please don't recommend any Bioshock or Fallout titles)

You sir have incredible luck, I spent only about 50 hours but after the 1293874190237489123472103728402930784190 trillion crash I just quit the game. Maybe I should go back and see if things are fixed......

On topic like the others have said though New Vegas, Skyrim, and but nothing else really that has been recent.

Fallout New Vegas graphics were just HORRIBLE. Maybe they have released some mods for the game so it looks better now, I should check it out...
Perhaps I should mod STALKER to the max and give it another go as well. Didn't keep me playing for more than 3 hours the last time.

Didn't like Skyrim at all. If you'd stay still and not move, it'd feel like you'd be watching a screenshot. Everything is really static.

Metro was pretty cool, but it was really short and the paths were already chosen for you, unlike in Fallout.

All are old titles that I have unfortunately heard about already, I was hoping there was something that I had missed.

Yeah you're pretty much screwed, you could try some of the fallout 3 mods see if you can change it enough to forget it's the same game.

You can always use some good mods for Fallout 3 to extend your playtime, but seeing as you have 200 hours, I expect it is very stale. I'm going to recommend Fallout: New Vegas anyway, and be sure to mod it up (and it's much more stable than FO3). Skyrim is a lot like FO3 in its open world expansiveness, since it's from the same developer.

Although S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is often said to be like Fallout, the games have a very different feel. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. isn't true open world (has loading screens) but more importantly, it doesn't have emphasis on open world exploration, side quests, or RPG elements. They're more focused on the story and main quest, which isn't much of a focus in FO3 or Skyrim.

Still, Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripyat (especially with the right mods) will feel like Fallout 3 with the right mods in one way; they're both brutal and desperate. You can't just run around and dominate, you need to plan your course of action very carefully. I always end up deciding where I want to go and why, because you can't afford to waste ammo or get injured too badly. These are the best survival games, but they require mods to be this way (especially Fallout 3).

For those who are concerned: I use Win 7 Professional x64, and play Fallout 3 with DC Interiors, Mart's Mutant Mod, Simple Needs, NMC texture pack w/ bump maps, Weapon Retexture Project, Classic Fallout Weapons, Better Power Armor (and a re-skin for T-51b), and probably more mods I can't think of right now. My game hardly ever crashes.

You could try Oblivion, it's like Fallout 3, with swords.

See wut i did thar?

STALKER though is one of my all time favourite survival horrors. Shadow of Chernobyl being the best in terms of atmosphere and feel.

Borderlands 1/2 is a good suggestion, although if you're looking for a "Roleplay" experience the multiplayer element may get in the way (I personally can't immerse myself as much in online games than single player) Borderlands also has a similar sense of humor/style to TF2 and Fallout 3, and in fact, is funnier in many cases. It's a great set of games for a fun experience with mates either way.

And speaking of borderlands, how can you not like this soundtrack:

yeah I'm with you, I played through Fallout 3 twice spending approximately 500 hours in the wasteland and still don't think I saw everything, even with New Vegas haven't been able to replicate that experience. Ah fond memories.

I liked Skyrim as well but loved the post apocalyptic quasi modern setting and weapons of Fallout.

We tried the game with 3 of my friends, so we were 4 including me.
Just 1 of 4 liked the game, that's 25%.

My guess is that most of the people who liked Skyrim probably liked the previous titles a well.
Personally, the other titles didn't keep me playing for more than a hour.
When I first tried Skyrim, I didn't enjoy it, however I played it against my will for a bit to see if it gets any better.
The result was Wasting 4 hours and uninstalling Skyrim afterwards.
