Safe to run Skyrim off an SSD?

Thread Starter
I am really sorry to bug you guys again with such dumb questions but, I know it is okay to run games off an SSD and Skyrim benefits from it greatly if you are using higher uGrids like I am. But Skyrim is writing to the disc constantly I am sure so is it safe for my SSD or will it reduce it's life span by a decent amount? Thanks in advance.

Running a game won't be writing, it will be reading from the SSD.

uhh the amount of writing it would do would be sooo little that it wouldn't even matter tbh.

so go ahead and do it.

I have 460 hours of Skyrim on my Intel 520 ssd.

The ssd life still shows at 100%.

Wear leveling has come a long, long way since the first ssd.

Put it on and don't worry about it.

Yeah your SSD will last for 5-7 years if you are writing 20GiB per day which is above average, don't worry about it.

Everything will run fine if not better. By the time the SSD begins to degrade, it will be obsolete.

Aren't those writes just savegames? Those are stored in the users folder, which I think most people here have on a hdd.
Besides, the whole writes decreasing performance/lifespan is exaggerated any way. Not saying it doesn't happen, but it isn't nearly as much of an issue as many people seem to think. Personally I have all my games on an SSD and it's doing just fine. You'd have to run some specific program that is writing to disk constantly to notice anything.

I actually haven't moved my user folder yet, I am debating if it is worth it. Seems like it would cause a lot of problems.

Problems such as? I prefer having it on an hdd, things like downloads, savegames etc would fill up my boot drive quickly and these aren't things that need to be on a fast drive anyway.
