AMD vs Intel OCZ Agility 4

Thread Starter
Would an OCZ Agility 4 perform differently when with an fx 6300 compared to an i3 3220 or i3 3225. Also is that ssd the best I can get in canada for around $80?

There are potentially performance differences between an AMD chip-set SATAIII controller and an Intel chip-set SATAIII controller. The 700 through 900 series AMD SATAIII chip-sets typically benchmark slower than an intel p67, z68, p77, z77. The caveat to this is that the AMD controller typically offers 4 to 6 SATAIII connectors where the Intel Chipset will only offer two SATAIII and then either two more or four more SATAII connectors. When you mix your SATAIII SSD with other slower SATAII devices on an Intel Chip-set there have been many examples of degraded performance of the SSD. The best practice with an Intel Chip-set would be to place the SSD on the lowest number count SATAIII interface port, ie port 0 with nothing on the the second SATAIII port 1. Then have any other devices on the SATAII ports. With the AMD you do not have to worry with this as much. All of the SATAIII ports on an AMD chipset should be about the same speed but typically have slower performance on average.
