That game is not CPU intensive whatsoever. It uses 1 core on my 3930k. Ot also runs better with Hyperthreading turned off. Makes for better GPU usage and eliminates some minor stutter.
With my 680GTX overclocked to 1330/7050 I get about 70FPS average with the lowest I've seen at 41 FPS (1080p). My friend's 670 gets about the same FPS but at 720p which is less demanding.
Do you think that the gtx 680 is a better choice then for the hd 7970 also when the game goes live tomorrow do you think they will fix the 7970 will perform better also according to toto is hits review he says the game is dry CPU intensive unless that has changed I think I will wait till t or row to see if anyone has any benchmarks for the game after the official release

Dunno, I played beta for a week then I stopped playing, maybe they fixed some things. Wait for benchmarks after the game is released.

The 7970 is a powerful card, but none of that matters as the drivers are not optimized for this game yet. And I am guessing you don't want to pay $400 for something that may or may not run well, at a later date.

The game is advertised as "Optimized for Nvidia" and all their demo rigs had sli 670's pushing 1600p monitor.

Scorpion which 680 would you recommend.

When I used to play beta there was many reports of people with AMD 7000 video cards getting low FPS, including the 7970.
I would go with the 670gtx or 680gtx depending on budget. For the 680 definitely the 680 Lightning as it is the only card with software voltage control. For the 670's not sure.

Don't get me wrong, the 7970 is an absolute beast in most other games, just not Planetside2. I'm sure that will change once drivers catch up but why wait?

Compared to the other gtx 680s, the gtx 680 Lightning is definitely one of the best.

It's currently the only 680 that allows software voltage control via BIOS flash. They lock the current BIOS to adhere to Nvidia's rules but that's an easy fix =)

It also has the best air cooler. If I put my fan at 70% my max temp after 3dmark11 is 42c at stock clocks.
The 680 Lightning has been seen benching as high as 1500Mhz on water. Several on OCN bench ~1450Mhz on AIR. How is it not THE best 680?
