Z68 SSD caching question

Thread Starter
I'm planning to do some upgrading on black friday, anyways heres my current setup: intel X25-v boot drive, 2x 320 GB RAID 0 for games and apps, 128gb m4 caching this (z68) and Im going to replace my x25 with m4 for boot drive, replace 2x 320GB with one 2 TB drive and for caching I was wonder if I can use 2 ssd drives in raid 0 to cache the 2 TB. (this possible?) If not im going to get one 240 GB drive to cache

With Z68 you can only use up to 64GB of SSD space as cache space. Anything larger is useless and will just be extra free space not being used for caching.

And no you can not cache a SSD RAID 0 array to a HDD or HDD RAID array, only a single SSD to HDD or HDD RAID array.

Just use the M4 as boot and Intel as cache.

alright one more question, how much faster is the cached HDD drive over stand alone ssd? cause if its not much faster id rather save money and get smaller drive and just cache the whole 2 TB drive

I can't say. Only the stuff that gets cached will be at SSDs speeds.

I thought when u setup 64 GB for cache, it caches the whole drive? like all 600 gigs?

Think critically and analytically for a second. How can 600GB of data be placed onto 64GB of space?

I believe you can't with the Intel caching software.

The software will automatically cache the most used files on the HDD to the SSD.
