i7-3770k + GTX 680 Need a Build Check + Advice

I am planning on dual monitoring and using it to overclock, play games (2-3 at once), video skyping, livestream, and to stream movies. Trying to future proof it for a few years. Need someone to double check everything. Would appreciate any advice whether some parts are excessive for the build or if I should upgrade. Should I upgrade the power supply to 850W, pc builder puts the wattage at 410W.

I was also wondering what safe overclocking I could get on the memory, CPU and GPU.

Your power supply is fine, you could even get away with a 650W and SLI.

everything looks good, but if you are going to overclock the ram, you should get Samsung Wonder Ram.

as for the CPU and GPU, no one can tell you how far you can overclock because all chips are different, but for the CPU, expect something above 4GHz and the GPU, expect something above 1.1-1.2 GHz

Unless you plan to really push the overclocks, the H100 is a bad value. Just get a $30 Hyper 212+ EVO instead - it supports overclocks in the 4.3~4.5 range without any trouble. The GTX 680 is also not the best value - the GTX 670 is 90-95% the speed of the GTX 680, but only costs 75% of the 680.

What you picked will work, just some ways to save some money without much performance impact.

I was considering downgrading the GPU, would the HD 7970 be a better than the 670 when they are a similar price? Some comparisons seem to put HD 7970 Ghz above GTX 670.
GTX 680 4GB ($500) > HD 7970 Ghz 3Gb ($450) > GTX 670 4GB ($450)> HD 7970 ($400) >GTX 670 2GB ($400) ??

If you are willing to go AMD (some people aren't) then the 7970 is a great option. The new drivers really gave it a boost. I'm not sure if it's worth the premium for the GHz card or not - I'd guess the performance difference would wash out if you are overclocking, but someone else would have to weigh in on that.

Sorry a few more questions for you.
I was told that the intel processor has a resistor inside that will break if you overclock so the warranty with intel becomes void so you should get a shop warranty as well?
I was hoping to overclock to 4.5-4.7 with the h100, do you think this is pushing the chip too hard or should I just downgrade the H100 to the H50 ($60)?
*By the way this will be my first time overclocking*

The H100i is much better than the H100, it comes with much better fans. On ivy bridge you will be lucky to get a chip that will do 4.5Ghz. You will not void the warranty unless you de-lid it. And I highly suggest you stay away from that.

And grab a 7970, right now it is the better performer over the GTX 680 and costs much less. If you want to save a little bit without hurting performance too much the 7950 will give you about the same performance as a GTX 670 since the new driver update from AMD.

Good to know, I was not planning to de-lid it.

Is the HD 7970 Ghz worth springing for or is the HD 7970 sufficient? Any brand suggestions, two I was looking at:

I kept going back and forth on the HD 7970 and the GTX 680 a lot of sites and benchmarks sorta pointed to a different winner.

Also, if I am not gonna/can't overclock it above 4.5 then no point in even getting H100i and I should just follow Forceman advice and get Hyper 212+ EVO?

A 7970 can be overclocked to the 7970 GHz, so it really wont matter, I have heard bad things about the DD cooler, I would just go with the Gigabyte.

If you arent going to overclock, then there really is no reason to buy an after market cooler, I have the H40, H60, H80 and H100. And they have almost all worked great(My H80 had a pump issue, but RMA took less than a week). The H100i comes with quieter fans and is a pretty decent price for what you get with it.

GHz version is pointless as it's only 5% better for roughly 150 more, and should only be got if your into serious overclocking. Don't get the H100 if your not overclocking, it's pointless, but DO get the Hyper 212 Evo, even if your not OCing. Get a 7970, as it beats the 670 at stock speeds, and beats the 680 when slightly overclocked. That Barracuda looks dodgy, it's probably been made in some Chinese factory, looking at the price of it, and will probably die in a few months. If you want too take the risk, it's up too you, but if not change it too a Caviar Blue or Black. The i7 is pointless unless your doing 3D modeling, video editing etc, same with the memory, 8GB would do fine unless your doing that stuff. Soundcard is practically pointless, unless you have a good pair or speakers or a headset. From the money you've saved, invest it in a better quality, modular PSU: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/rosewill-power-supply-hive650
