[PC Gamer] GTA 5: PC version merely “up for consideration” says Rockstar’s Dan Houser - Page 26

Developing for console is more expensive than PC. I've posted the related material twice already and can't be bothered to do it again. I'm not going to argue piracy, because I agree, good games should be paid for. However, if your game is a pile of generic crap that isn't worth the $60 tag, I understand why people are pirating it. I don't agree with doing it, not when Steam and other platforms can give us steep discounts if we're patient, but I also know that most people aren't patient. It's understandable that they won't pay more than the game is worth, and that being human, they get antsy and pirate it.

However, that doesn't have jack to do with the issue. Guess what? It's their problem, not ours. Seriously, how many other industries saddle the consumer with extra responsibilities and restrictions because a small minority cut into their profits? Satisfied customers don't steal. Unless they're broke as hell that is....

Make no mistake, if gaming was better on consoles, I'd be what you call a console fanboi, but I really don't give a damn what platform I game on so long as I get the best experience possible. Consoles have not been that for well over a decade.

Halo 2 does not fit those constraints. No diplomatic option, no pacifist option, no.... options at all. It's an FPS, you shoot things. The very mentioning of an FPS as an example is going to completely derail this sub-topic of discussion so let's not go further than that.

It's an easy question. But you have the wrong answer. PC games are more profitable per copy than console games. PC games are cheaper to produce. PC games provide a longer sale cycle which allows for a stable business structure. So why do consoles get preference? Because investors are impressed by big pre-order and first-day sales numbers.

That's it. Just look at the cycle. Private game companies prefer to produce for PC and produce better content. Public game companies prefer to produce for consoles and produce generic content that sells to a wider audience. Private companies that become public companies adopt the practices of the public companies almost immediately. So what is the primary difference between a private and a public company?

I'm an Elitist in my choice of the games I play, pure and simple. I won't say I don't make compromises, because hey, it's just $5 right? I spend more than that on caffeine some days. But the bottom line is that a crappy game is a crappy game, it just so happens that consoles by the constraints of their interface and limitations encourage bad game design. I'm done tolerating it.

Afterthought: I am a pen and paper fanboi. I'll take a handful of dice and a character sheet over a lousy screen and keyboard any day of the week.

Edit: I just had an epiphany...

Elitism: The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources.

PC Gamers don't ask for preference, just equal treatment. So who does this apply to again?

It's about time I remembered at least a small amount of what I was taught in middle school.

Stop feeding this troll. Seriously guys, like 5 different people in this thread alone have blasted him with 10 different kinds of logic and he continues to obfuscate, backpeddle, and make up information out of thin air. Either he doesn't want to learn or he's too young for this discussion (probably the latter, since earlier in the thread he defended his failed citation skills as 'what he learned in English').

Don't feed this troll. Seriously guys, he falsely accuses other people of being trolls. He makes false claims about other individuals to get a response (which worked).
Kids like you annoy me. The arrogant hypocrites. I have never made up a damn thing, I am always willing to learn and I am definitely old enough since you are immature. These are all facts. Because if you were mature, you would not have insulted me. If you were not arrogant you would not have posted.
AND FOR YOUR INFORMATION! I HATE TROLLS! Another FACT.
Good job, you succeeded at doing your job, you pissed off your "victim" and got off on it.
