Oh well Rockstar is just another studio I add to my don't care/don't want list.

Yes, because that helped Skyrim, Fallout 3 and NV from not being downloaded freely via torrent and used without Steam.
Cool, you should end up adding every developer to that list of yours.

Maybe I will, it's something I've been contemplating.

Where did I do that though... The only thing I said was that I use consoles for casual games.

And the PC has more casual gamers because PC gamers outnumber console gamers by a ridiculous margin.

The numbers pretty much go like this: PC casual gamers > console gamers (casual + core) > PC core gamers. PC is the most popular platform. Console is the most popular platform for medium - heavy gaming. PC is the most publicized platform for gaming (LAN's).

piracy on consoles can get your xbox banned from live it's not worth it you just end up with a $300 brick

Rockstar wouldn't have ported both the GTA IV expansions and MP3 to PC if it wasn't worth it.

Steam is a store, in fact I wager valve would be a small company if it wasn't for steam as their pc releases would be not nearly enough, they are selling pc games as a whole not only their own games. Blizzard is a company that can make a turd that is 60$, pay 2 win lacking features of better games and without lan support and still have it sell well due to their fanbase, not all game companies have the same luxury.

Greedy people will be greedy and pirate it anyway. Even if they have to do it on XBOX (which is a lot easier than pirating on PC)

How is it easier to pirate on consoles than pc in anyway lol?

On consoles you have to get your 360 modded which costs money and can lower the lifespan of your 360, then you have to download and burn a disk for each pirated game, there is a chance of the disk not burning properly and even if it does work microsoft can turn your 360 into a 300$ paperweight if they find out your pirating games. While on PC you do not even need to buy a disc and deal with burning anything, just mount the image and your good to go; there are no repercussions for pirating.

The percentage of Steam sales coming from Valve's games is completely irrelevant.

The piracy talk should stop. Those people here that have enough money to build expensive PCs have enough money to buy games. Those people with cheap PCs that get by with 1 GPU 3-5 years are the pirates. On top of that these people dont benefit from these games because most cant play them.
That being said for those people that are true PC gamers and buy all their games and spend a lot of $ in their PCs like most of us its a real kick in the back. So these developers push PC games back or no release it at all, on top of that the games they makes are not put with love but $ as main reason and most of the time are full of bugs.
I hate pirates and it know its wrong but i feel like its the bad guy hurting another bad guy. Once you start enjoining PC games and 2K+ PC that we build its easy to justify a $60 if done right with the right support for PC.

It really is possible to bask in the fun of playing a Halo game online on release night, play a grand theft auto game on consoles, and still manage to love playing PC games. Sticking to one platform for petty reasons is just childish. You'll never play any of the great franchises that are exclusive to consoles. Uncharted, Halo, Gears, The Last of Us, God of War, Metal Gear!, etc

Just try to enjoy a game for what it is. Not for its graphics, not for the controller input, just the game itself. I promise it'll open a whole new door for you. thumb.gif

Personally, I already have it pre ordered for PS3. And I'll buy it again if/when it comes out for PC. But I won't let the lack of a PC port keep me from having fun.

Why?

Your the one who claimed PC devs are claiming record sales? May I know which devs you are talking about I cannot think of one except blizzard which is clearly an anomaly in the PC market.

Why should it stop? Its a real issue; I can think of plenty of people I know who have great rigs and can afford games but they choose not to because games are so easy to pirate. Piracy seems like a better reason for rockstar not wanting an immediate PC release rather than Rockstar hates PC.
