OP choose the best components within your budget. a core i5 with HD 7950 would be a very good gaming PC. i have used NCIX canada pricing.

Opt for an NZXT Source 210. The 300 is kinda outdated.
Get a 7850/7870 if you have enough money. Better than the 6870 imo

Amazing advice.

Only additional piece i'd add to it: GET A SOLID STATE DRIVE (SSD)!!!

I dunno why some people on here say "Oh its not THAT big a deal..." if you've never used a SSD before its lightning fast compared to a regular drive. Plus they can be had now for less than 100$. I got mine for 65$ after rebates. Its totally worth it. It really is faster on an order of many magnitudes.

Imagine having 128gb worth of stuff stored constantly in ram....that'll give you an idea of the speed up, even if thats not exactly how it works.

Would it be better to get 2x4GB pins?

Leaving 220$ for a graphics card will not get you the same performance as a 7950. Running 2(dual channel) sticks of ram is a bit faster than 1(single channel), although 1 stick gives you more room to expand.

UPDATED Computer Build.JPG 230k .JPG file

This is a build I have come up with, does anyone have any suggestions to make it better/improve it? I'm going to have to stretch my budget to $1000!

B75 was launched around the same time as Ivy and I am not aware of any B75 chipset board that would not work with an Ivy chip right out of the box.

Not that videocard. As a general rule, your videocard should cost more than your processor if you are building a gaming pc on a budget.
