damnit, just found this morning that the GPU memory was locked on 150 and was only doing ~30KPPD... :C

forced driver restart seems to have fixed it, at least that means I don't have to reboot and re-open all my other applications...

I'm always hesitant to offer any overclocking help with graphics, but what are you running with timings and voltage?

stock really, been experimenting with the max core clock at times to work out something efficient but powerful, Ive found dropping the max by 5% (950MHz) allows a little better efficiency and of course a little less throttle, but anything lower and a manual core voltage seems to be required as the voltage seems to drop too low and it becomes unstable, 290/X is a strange beast and I guess simply isn't intended for heavy tasks like folding.

going to have to try to get this under water as soon as possible, might even just use a closed-loop cooler, dropping the core to 40C instead of 90C gives a massive efficiency boost and would mean I don't have to worry about voltage and stability so much :3

problem with that though is my case doesn't have room for another closed-loop cooler, I guess I'll have to look for what options I have if I can replace the thermaltake on my CPU with an air cooler and get a better closed-loop that can fit between it and the case, might end up getting a 10KRPM fan for it too to counter the combined heat tunnel...

Indeed, that's a bit hot to be overclocking with. Closed or open loop would certainly solve that.

Jeezus though, 10k fan would be hella loud! Crazy aussie bloke rolleyes.gif

Full Auto will be present, and "enforcing" safety at the polls. We don't want anyone feeling "unsafe," now do we?

what fan %? I set custom fan curves in MSIAB, so my cards all sit in the 60-70C range.

as of this instance, that means the following:
7970: 68C, 81% fan
6950: 71C, 58% fan
660: 59C, 69% fan

I love reference coolers!

what fan %? I set custom fan curves in MSIAB, so my cards all sit in the 60-70C range.

as of this instance, that means the following:
7970: 68C, 81% fan
6950: 71C, 58% fan
660: 59C, 69% fan

I love reference coolers!

this is how I have it atm, if I set the fan to 100% (via afterburner or trixx) the temp can go as low as 80C but that's about it, and at that speed its spinning 5400RPM and sounds worse then the 10KRPM fans you have in server racks...

Hawaii is quite a different brute compared to its predecessors rolleyes.gif

EDIT:

now have a 460SE as a secondary card to help with shader debugging, but it also seems like a good folder too, this could be interesting...
