I think the whole "wow this is cool but I still don't need them" phase begins at 3 monitors.
A lot of my clients at work foam at the mouth at the prospect of having dual monitors because they could benefit from having two. Excel on one screen, Outlook on the other, or whatever. It doesn't sound like you had such a reason for having two monitors, so I'm not surprised that you aren't blown away.

Precisely. If you actually use the extra real estate, it's invaluable. I'd never go back to 1 after having gone through college with 2. It's so convenient having 2 or 3 papers on screen at the same time while writing a lab report or other material.

I love having a dual-monitor setup. Its so much more easier to have a game with fullscreen windowed borderless and a second monitor to do everything on. Not to mention having multiple things open and being able to see them. Even if Im just browsing the web in a single window, I usually just end up leaving my skype up on the other screen.

Hmm, I just remembered I was supposed to buy a 4:3 monitor for "schoolwork" aka. gaming+skype or whatever.
25 euros and ease of computer usage doubles mmmmm

I'm getting another monitor soon to hook up along with my other one. I've wanted 2 monitors for quite some time especially since trying them out before. Although I don't think I could stand it if they were too different sizes, but I'm just a little OCD about that kinda stuff.

I can't imagine even browsing the web on my sig rig with less than 2 monitors. Honestly the 3rd one I have doesn't get used that much, I usually just keep steam chat etc. there but two is the absolute minimum that I would want on a desktop.

No offense, but you sound like a gamer to me (i was one long ago). They only use one screen and can't really see the why you should have 2, excluding LoL/HoN/DotA games who uses guides on their secondary monitor. Back when i just played games i was totally fine with one screen and felt lost when i was using a dual or greater multi screen setup. But after staring to work with dual screens i hate to when i have to go back to one.

But when you work on something it's having multi screen setup. When I'm making websites I usually have often compress everything to 1/2 windows, or 1/4 of my total desktop, 1/4 with web browser, 1/4 with code, 1/4 with folder structure and the last quarter with the costumers specifications. I would like to have even more screens so i don't need to compress the windows so much but can't due to graphiccard only supporting 2 outputs and my desk being to small i cant right now.

So multiscreen setup isn't for everyone. smile.gif

Yeah I'm the same, spins me out using 2, 27" and 2560x1440 of real estate will do for me instead smile.gif

You have to see a need for two, SWMBO does her school lesson prep. using Office on two monitors, and I run BOINC and have a whole suite of monitoring software watching everything on my system.

I'd love three, but the 32" HDTV does OK if I'm really busy...

24" Dell is probably next on my shopping list, as the warrantied "Korean" imports seem expensive here in the UK.

dunx

P.S. "SHE" doesn't actually care about two monitors, as "SHE" can multi-task, according to her....

I recently moved out to go to uni and i only brought one of my 2 monitors... and boy do i miss the other one xD I mean, after having 2 monitors for 2 years they become invaluable.

Its great for looking at webpages and word documents at the same time, viewing movies whilst playing EvE or WoW ( or having 2 eve clients open biggrin.gif ).
Having guides open whilst playing LoL is nice too. Or a map when playing DayZ.

In general it just allows to keep a much better overlook of things, especially when you get used to using windows+arrowkeys to arrange windows.

I want my second monitor back frown.gif
