Removed Bezel on my Acer S231H Monitor - Page 3

Remove the outer frame 2x4 and re-add the strength that is lost from the outer frame behind the monitors and out of sight and you have a winner setup smile.gif

Also, if you switch to MDF, you should be able to make a nice frame/enclosure to mount the monitors, which will be less intrusive than 2x4 pine.

I took apart the monitors and cut down the metal frame and plexiglass.... However, due to the ribbon cables for the LCD, one side is wider.... The ribbons are quite delicate so I am unsure what to do now...

Below shows the cut glass sitting in the metal frame before cutting it. You can see here how much I had to cut off of the metal frame... You can also see how the ribbon cable attaches.

Here is a pic with blue painters tape around the edges (LOL, its all I had at the time)... You can see how the ribbon cables stick out to the side:

Finished porduct (for now... I may try to get the ribbon cables to lay flatter... this is getting riskier though lol):

And a special thanks to CallsignVega for all of his posts regarding his epic builds. His thread is here: http://www.overclock.net/t/1143724/3x-120hz-eyefinity-portrait-setup

Thanks for looking!

That is getting sooo close. Good work. If I could ever get a weekend that didn't have me working at least one day of it I would give this a try myself.

You'd think that a monitor manufacturer would step up and make something specifically for this. If some one can take something existing and get this close you'd think something could be made for seamless monitor setups.

I think we will continue to see thinner bezels I the next few years for gaming monitors. They are already doing it with large displays meant for video walls.

It just really bugs me that the right gap is wider.... Hummmmmm what to do what to do.

Look how little bezel there is on phones now. Manufacturers could do it if they felt there was enough of a market for it.

Does anyone know much about the small ribbon cables that attach to the LCD? If I could apply glue to them and then fold them down to the side, it would save a little on the width...

I don't want to damage them in any way with glues or cause them to run too hot.
