hi l3ubba

can i just run through a few setting with you or anyone else that might read this please, i have been looking in my bios and i have no idea what some of this stuff means of if its set right?

in cpu config
CIE is Disabled
Core C6 state enabled
HPC Mode Disabled
APM Master Mode Auto

Boot config
USB Support partial initialization
fast boot enabled

sata ESP on port 1,2,3,4,5,6 disabled

S.M.A.R.T status check enabled

are these settings ok i haven`t touched them ?

i have ACHI on but i can find APCI or what ever its called.

there are more settings but they are just ones that in wondering about.

CIE is Disabled - power saving feature, at idle it reduces frequency and voltage reducing power usage and heat.
Core C6 state enabled- is a deeper sleep power feature, shutting down cores and no voltage
HPC Mode Disabled-(high performance computing mode) locks your clock speeds under load so it doesnt throttle
APM Master Mode Auto-advanced power management, another power saving, sleep feature

USB Support partial initialization-
(Disabled) All USB devices will not be available until OS boot up for a
fastest POST time.
(Full Initialization) All USB devices will be available during POST. This process will
extend the POST time.
(Partial Initialization)
For a faster POST time, only the USB ports with keyboard and
mouse connections will be detected.

Fast Boot [Enabled]
(Enabled) Select to accelerate the boot speed.
(Disabled) Select to go back to normal boot

Sata ESP-(external sata port) Sata ESP has to do with external drives/hotswap support

S.M.A.R.T status check enabled- is a monitoring system for hard drives, will check for faults and notify you of failures before your hard drive dies. allowing you to replace your hard drive before you lose your data.

ACPI-(Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) enables the operating system to control the amount of power given to each device attached to the computer. it can disable things like hard discs while not in use. works with ACPI-compliant hardware

to answer your question about them being set right you can say yes i suppose, most of those features are power saving features and is preference. I would personally turn c1e,c6,and apm to disable and enable hpc then overclock the snot out of it. biggrin.gif

Nothing to worry about Bubba..just set it up the way you had it before smile.gif
Oh..and you might need to fix your date/time. biggrin.gif
Win7 will toggle between ahci and ide automatically..whatever you have the BIOS set to, if you have already installed ahci drivers.
