Which processor to go with ? - Page 3

This is interesting, when I look at the tomshardware benchmarks the difference is 5% or bellow that. Anyway, as I stated previously, if you are going for a really high-end computer you shoud also get the best cpu.

Not really fair... the intels are overclocked and the AMD's are stock(well the 8350 at least) .... trust me, you will not notice a diffrence if you have them side by side playing the same game.. unles its an old poorly coded game like SC2 rolleyes.gif

Night and day difference..

Us people with 120 Hz monitors We do not like to settle for 60fps...

Your cpu can only do 60fps in todays games what about 6 months to a year from now? Seems like a soon to become bottleneck.

And a Cpu to avoid for a 120HZ gamer at all cost.

Yeah that is very fear...

The 8350 High factory clocks are a sales ploy by Amd... for the Avg Joe sees cores + high Mhz = buy....
When both chips max out at the same clocks on Avg the only Far way to compare is clock for clock...
99.9% of 3770k / 3570k will do 4ghz with stock voltage also.

false.... (most) new games are GPU dependant, unless OP is going to run 4 7970's or 690's wont really make a diff

True....

5.2ghz 3770k Bottlenecks Borderlands 2 and Max Payne 3 And quite near a afew other titles.. for the 120hz gamer.

So if my 3770k bottlenecks a game i know for a fact the bottleneck on an equal Amd cpu is going to be 30%-40% worse.

If you have me on Steam check my profile i have over 600 games...

To make it clear..im not happy even with the 3770ks gaming performance.. there for im going to side grade to Haswell and hope it is enough to open up room for the bottlenecks and near bottlenecks i have.

Hey guys sorry I've been afk. Been busy studying for my last two papers on tue and wed biggrin.gif i can smell the freedom hahahah.

I'm still hesitant on the IVB chips cos of the high temperatures of my location. I live in Singapore so the average ambients around here are 24-32 Celcius.
Water-cooling is a future upgrade when the funds come in.
Delidding and placing my own TIM under the IHS is not something I am comfortable with doing frown.gif
Unless someone in Singapore is willing to help me out and talk me through the process biggrin.gif:P

Back to the discussion at hand, I do play SC2 and no I'm not really afraid of the slower speeds of the AMD chips. The only worry i have is whether I'm bottlenecking or limiting the potential
longevity of my system ( in terms of "future proof" though it's totally a fallacy as it depends on my use) I'm looking to have the MOBO/CPU combo last for a good 4-5 years. So I think I'll go on to the 3930K as I

I've been looking at all the stats provided by the awesome people here who deserve some +rep smile.gif
I know it's a far stretch that I'm suddenly going for the 3930K but I decided if I'm gonna build something that's gotta keep me happy for the next 4-5 years then i prolly should go with what i can afford and not cut some corners.

TO all the dudes that recommended a newegg or microcenter, I'm sorry I don't live in the states though I wish I did !

Thanks guys you've been of really great help to me and my pocket helping me to coax the required amount of money out of it tongue.gif

I'll be back with a build log !

but in the Intel forum

Sorry if i started any fires !

i would say go for SB-E i7 3820 and ASRock EXtreme 4 Mobo
cuz going this path will always give you the chance to upgrade to IVB-E thumb.gif
