Max temp is 98*C

Says nVidia

I would like to keep it sub 80, but hey you're not too far over, you should be ok.
Still save limits, but the card will throttle at 70C. Ideal temp is below 70, but 70-80 is certainly not a problem.

Maybe try adjusting the fan curve, or adjusting airflow in your case. You probably need some exhaust since that cooler dumps air into the case.

Use a custom fancurve, that should solve your problem. Past 60C make it ramp up to 80% fanspeed and 100% when it's > 70c

Use EVGA Precision or MSI Afterburner, you can manually crank up the fan.

Temperature-wise, 80C should be OK (I know my old GTX 470 would hit 90 regularly, even with the fan up pretty high)

Ok good
Ok fine

Acorse soon as I posted I noticed this faq. doh.gif

Not at all. Graphics cards these days are rated to around 100C! For instance, people who fold or game heavily could see their GPU(s) reach upwards of 90C. This is normal, they can withstand the heat - it's like apples and oranges compared to CPUs, where 75C is the danger-zone these days. Don't panic!
When should I be worried about temperatures?
Most would tell you about 105C is the point-of-no-return. Realistically though, for everyday use, you should not exceed 95-98C for extended periods of time.

Yeah except with the kepler architecture it will automatically begin to throttle the GPU past 70C. So ideally you want to keep temps below 70C so you can get maximum performance.

The gtx 650 and 660 and below don't have boost clocks, so that doesn't apply.
