Hi there,

New to the forum after a long time of lurking and seeing all the amazing builds going on, and then feeling that my rig is a bit humble.

So after my build last year and some of the 'problems' it had I have decided to invest in some new parts in a vain attempt to catch up with modern times. So here are my specs:

CPU: i5 2320 - Stock Intel cooler (Sin!)
MOBO: GA-H61M-S2PV
RAM: 1333Mhz 4GB
HD: WD Green 500GB (Very long story about this one......)
PSU: Generic 500W PSU (I know, I know..... needs to be throw out fast)
CASE: Rebranded Antec 100
GPU: EVGA GTX560

So there you go.... don't laugh....

So there you go, some suggestions would be nice budget wise lets say £300?

I am in the UK.

Thanks!
Grit

you dont have a bad computer. i would get a new PSU and a good video card, possibly some more ram, and you would be able to game very well!
Corsair CX500 PSU £47.99

Asus Geforce GTX 660 £185.90

Kingston 4GB 1333mhz £14.46

with these, you could get some serious gaming on!

Hi there,

I was a bit skeptical about the Motherboard as it only supports 1333Mhz RAM,
Also you suggest a better GPU, would this be wise?

I do need to get a new PSU as quite frankly I am afraid it will go nuclear on me.

Thanks.

Edit: How does this look: http://pcpartpicker.com/uk/p/owfH

Might add a SSD as one of my issues is minor lag which I presume is caused by the HDD spinning down..... One day I will tell the story of the Green Drive.

well, your motherboard isnt great, but it should be fine.
as for the GPU, you would notice a good increase when gaming.

I was looking at the Radeon 7870
http://pcpartpicker.com/uk/p/owfH

Would the Motherboard effect the gaming in anyway?

i would stay away from the 7870. while they have good gaming performance, they have a bad problem of just black screening and freezing.
as for the motherboard, it wont affect gaming performance. you would run into some bandwidth issues with GPUs, but that would only be with like 4 of them

That wont matter then as it only has 3 PCI slots.

Any other card to consider? I feel Nvidea is getting a bit..... bland.

Any recommended Radeon cards?

Thanks

Get a Rosewill Hive 650W. Modular, and the same price IIRC.
