AMD FX Build - under $600 [Video Editing CS6 and Blender 3D] - Page 15

Folding at home is a good indication of computing via CUDA, same as the Civ 5 bench...I'm gonna have to agree with Hokies.
Snag that 570 fast wink.gif

Would the gpu really matter much for gpu acceleration? Would it be worth it upgrading from say a gtx570 ($140 on craigs list, or just a new gtx560) to a gtx660?

gtx660 will be better for gaming but not by much...I'd go with the gtx 570 for cuda acceleration. Much better compute performance, unless you can snag that Galaxy I linked with the AC3 promo, get that 570.
You're gonna have to spend over 200 for a 660ti or wait for a deal otherwise...

That's not bad, but still Fermi cards perform much better at compute workloads, not so much for gaming.

with the 3770k and gtx 570, which watt power supply should I get? And with the 8320 and gtx 570?

I'll be sure to not by used items from you. that chip won't live a long life that way. I need my PC's to last 4 years, full throttle. I am sure I could clock this CPU harder, but i'll just be killing it fast to do so, for very little gain in the end.

Interesting. On PCpartpicker, it said the estimated wattage was only 432... That was with 8320, 970 ud3, 8gb ram, 1tb 7200rpm hdd, gtx560 ti 448.

And that is roughly correct. 650W is way overkill even with massive overclocks.
