AMD FX Build - under $600 [Video Editing CS6 and Blender 3D] - Page 9

Some people are forgetting Microcenter = Tax. Regardless of what way you look at it, the FX-8320 is the better deal for OP's needs. We are talking video encoding and the OP did not mention a single game he will be playing that is single threaded. There is ZERO reason for the OP to pay more for a 3770k in this situation. By the way, how many of you actually have your 3770k overclocked on stock cooling? I couldn't help but laugh when someone suggested that. Intel stock coolers are horrible and noisy when the cpu is under load. I know this from experience and that's on a Sandy Bridge cpu. Ivy runs even hotter and you're talking about overclocking it on that horrible stock cooler?

229$ at Micro center 249$ at Tigerdirect.

And the 3770k destroys the 8350 at video encoding clock for clock.

Ivy runs hot after a certain voltage/clock wall, which is different in every chip.
But 1.1v or so and 4ghz are a piece of cake, cooler than Sandy actually wink.gif

Let the OP chime in, till he does I'm out.

And please, consider buying a used board and cpu, there's a 210usd 2600k in the marketplace here as well as some good boards for little money. Same thing with ram and gpu's, I'd go used. thumb.gif

If you'd like to have decent performance under PPro just think about more than 1 HDD.

Windows version of Premiere Pro does not support OpenCL now, only CUDA.

I never said anything about premier.
I said cs6 in general since some programs do and some dont.
Photoshop CS6 for instance, has an option to turn on OpenCL if you own an HD5000 or HD6000 series card

I did not see one benchmark in where it "destroys" an 8350. And no you can't compare different architectures clock for clock. You have to compare them stock for stock. How about we all stop with these fanboyish exaggerations.

You forgot to add tax on that MC which might as well make it close to the same price as TD. And also FX-8320 is $179.99 at newegg. As was mentioned before, an 8320 overclocked to 8350 speeds is the best deal in this situation.

Last I checked the FX 8320 was just 160 shipped at NCIX US.

I see 30% to 50% clock for clock... And u do compare clock for clock when both chips on avg overclock to 4.8ghz

8320s on avg do not clock as well as 8350s... Read vishera club for that info.

Prices are so close there is no reason to go Amd unless he can not get the 229$ or 249$ deals

Just have to turn the amd tunnel vision off.....

And ppl who know me know I'm not a fan boy I'm just the most honest. Person ur gonna meet and have seen what both chips can do and stay well informed.

I do own a 1055t and a 7970 btw thumb.gif

Anyways op can read the benchmarks and has some common sense he will know which direction to go.

Well the reason they brought it up was becasue its on sale for only $220 at microcenter (20 mins away from my house, very easy to get). Also, holy crap I go on vacation for a few days and BAM this thread goes from like 5 pages to 9 pages without me commenting. Thank you guys so much for all of the comments (I posted this on another forum site and just got 1 page and only one guy commented, but he was a hardcore intel fanboy and said AMD is total **** and I'd be better off with a dual core i3 (showed a single threaded gaming benchmark, lol). But yeah I think the 3770k is a great deal. Will the high speed ram do me any real life difference? I was thinking that I would get that special samsung magic ram and overclock it or whatever. Would that be good? 60 bucks for 8gb of ram seems kind of crazy even with those speeds

Samsung ram will be fine.

there is also this kit for 44$
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231518

Z77 supports up to 2800mhz. and i have seen 3000mhz ram run on it before.. great IMC.

I'm really sick of all of this intel vs amd stuff, with fan boys on either side screaming at each other (not really on this thread, but on another site I posted on it was crazy).
About the gaming and single threaded stuff, I'm really not sure which games use the cpu or gpu the most or are single or multi threaded. I will also be getting games in the future, I think the 3770k for $230 is what I'm going to go for. I play CS:S, CS:GO, the assassins creed games, BF3 and bfbc2, possibly cod in the future, possibly dishonored maybe, tf2, portal 2, brink, and garrys mod (if this helps at all, i have no idea)

@ the person who said I should buy used... why? Wouldn't they just be less reliable crappier parts with no warranty? I would be especially afraid of buying used if it's going to be a $100+ dollar computer part (like a mobo, what if the person spilled water on it or something crazy).
