Help me decide! Red or Brown switches

So I'm looking to buy a mechanical keyboard for my soon-to-be-built new system. After much thinking back and forth between a Ducky Shine and a Filco, I *think* I'm pretty much decided on a Ducky.
Aaaand they're usually pretty hard to find, and a large stock just came in like yesterday. So I'm pretty anxious to pull the trigger on one, but I still haven't decided 100% on which switch to go with.

I've never used a mechanical keyboard before. I know I like keys with a soft actuation point (I've been using a laptop keyboard with fairly soft keys for the past 4 years). I'm a bit concerned about the noise of the keyboard, but I'm not really sure if there's a difference in noise between the reds and the browns. I'm going to primarily use the keyboard for gaming, something like 75% gaming 25% typing. Mostly RPG/MMORPG games, maybe a few FPS and random things thrown in. No idea if it's worth going for the browns for the tactile feel, as I don't really know what that feels like.

Opinions, please!

While I cannot comment on the browns because they are the only switch I haven't used, I am in love with the reds. Tried blacks, blues, and reds for a considerable amount of time and for my personal needs it was a no brainer. It is all personal preference, you can read peoples opinions all day long but in the end it comes down to what you want. The next switch on my list to try is some clears!

I have been using Browns for 2 years. I had to sell a red switch a year ago because I couldn't use it for a day. Keys are WAY too light imo and I don't type furiously. Love the browns, just wanted to try linear switches.

My best advice would be to try them both out and see which one you prefer.

Myself, I tried out reds, blacks and browns before I settled on the reds.

Are blacks like reds but harder to activate?

I have blues now and while they feel great - they are way too loud even with O-Rings unfortunately - thinking of getting a CM TK w/ reds

That's pretty much exactly what blacks are, yeah, they take a little more pressure to activate.

Check out this sampler kit.

This is the next best thing if you can't get your hands on testing full length keyboards.

While I would prefer to do this, there's not really anywhere near where I live to try out mechanical keyboards. And I can't buy 2 keyboards right now, maybe sometime in the future, but right now I need to just pick one. Tough to decide. :c

Aw, sorry to hear that. For me personally I preferred the red switches, so those are what I'll recommend in that case!

I guess I was lucky when trying to decide on a keyboard, where I live most shops have a 2-week no-questions-asked return policy, as long as the item comes back in the original box and there's visible sign of wear/damage.

Gahhh it's really hard to decide. I've watched videos of typing on youtube endlessly and they both seem so nice.
