You know the guy who tells you at the store the exact product you need is really creepy because he is a fan of the product. I know I have done research before and went to BB and the sales person will tell you 180 of exactly the things you have all ready knowledge of.

Confused... are you saying they try to sell you things you want to buy? Compitent salespeople are effective salespeople.
I have yet to meet someone with better knowledge than me at my BB when I go into buy something.

Still confused... tongue.gif

If Best Buy wants to stay in this business, then why are they still selling HDMI cables for $60?

Fry's has been matching prices for years.

I do work at best buy, they do price match all brick and motors - and their online websites. - on a case by case depending on what area of the nation you live in, some groups are price matching newegg/amazon as well. Those that are price matching amazon - are only pricematching certified sellers on amazon. Ex: Panasonic 65vt50, has to be sold by amazon or panasonic - not bob's tvs. However more then half the time we will do it anyway. (general rule of thumb is, is it more then what employes pay? Then sure) *we get 5% over cost discount*.

Geez you all are really over the top on this one... If they offer something for the right price then you pick it up. If not, then leave the store. You don't have to burn down the entire franchise. I've seen BestBuy have sales on TV's that were the same as BrandSmart and I especially love their Bluray sales. Don't think the price is reasonable? Walk out.

Maybe it's just me but sometimes I actually want something in a reasonable amount of time and don't feel like waiting 3-4 days.. and this is coming from a frequent Amazon shopper. Speaking of Amazon.. there have been several occasions where I tried to shop on NewEgg just out of habit but Amazon beat their prices by 10% or more. I didn't suggest we shut down NewEgg - I just shopped for the best price.

Some of you are way too emotional over BUSINESS transactions.

It's not about Best Buy's prices, it's about their business practices and how they treat their customers. $300 "TV tuneups," harassing computer buyers to purchase a $250 warranty that they don't need, the list goes on. I used to work there and I can tell an endless list of tales about how the store was run. The management didn't care one bit if employees were lying to customers and giving them blatant misinformation (and they did this often)...if it got them a sale then they were happy. And heaven forbid they discover that an employee is actually tech savvy, they'll drop your hours and/or find some way to fire you, which is exactly what happened to me.

Best Buy needs to learn that this isn't how you do business. And they need to learn it the hard way.

Every time I've had to deal with Bestbuy, it was a complete joke and a big waste of time.

- Check stock online, drive to the store " Oh we don't have it in stock.."
- They always come up with a terrible excuses to refuse the price match.
- They always try to push the extended warranty on everything you buy ( they tried to convince me to take it on a 30$ Sansa clip)

+They're a great showroom for the time being.

I'm not going to miss them much when they go down.

So in short you got fired becasue you couldn't hang with everyone who worked there. Cool story. No one makes anyone purchase $300 TV tune ups, or $60+ HDMI cables, if someone see's a value in it, they will buy it, if not then they don't. Go on the AVS forum and tell people they don't need to have their TV calibration done and see how bad they rip you apart.
