58s is close to the 670. I'm more inclined to go with the 7970s since I have the cooling and the power capacity for them...but....having had one with bad coil whine I'm not interested in going there. Plus, quad-fire is more sketchy then quad-sli. Wasn't there a recent driver upgrade that made quad-fire funky?

Sounds like you should just go for the 690's Im in the SLI / 690 debate myself.

Tempting since they're going for $700-800 and blocks aren't that expensive as wells I"m not going to need more then two. I'm reading up on the 670 and I keep seeing the 580 is more comfortable at higher resolutions. I can easily kickup the clocks on the 580s to get them going.

Going to run 3dMark11 to compare to triplet 670s to gauge raw power. With quad 580s, my most vram usage in Surround is 1.8GB.

biggrin.gif Surround needs a lot of power and if I decide to go with triple 1440s, quads will come in handy.

Memory interface is 256 on the Keplers vs 384 on Fermi vs and Tahiti

What do you guys think? More of side-grade based on this users experience. Could just keep my 580s, since I have yet to oc them and I already have the water hardware ready smile.gif

I still say 690's would be cheapest only have to buy two blocks lol.

Yup very true. Two is usually the cost of three single core gpu blocks.

But it would perform a lot worse than quad 680s

Not sure if its confirmed, but next generation GeForce cards aren't coming out til 4th quarter this year.... (along with new Playstation and Xbox its going to be expensive 4th quarter lol). Upgrading to four 680's or two 690's would still be ok taking the $$$ factor out.

$799 for GTX 780....hmmm....nah! That's a lot of mullah for 15-20% increase. Hmmm.....still lots to think about.

I emailed Zotac to find out what the condition is of the replacement card and find out how much its worth if I sell it. The extra cash could go towards some Crossover Blades!

I posted in the Surround section since there's guys running 4gb Keplers there. There are some members running sli 4gb 670/680s on three 1440s with good performance.
