[Build Log] Monstas Inside! (Monsta rads, custom MM case, Titan SLI) - Page 22

You know... I'm not sure using total system power as cpu draw is the correct way to show it. wink.gif

Quick lamens math, 1800w at the wall, minus PF = 1600 - 500 (cpu) = 1100w left for my gpus = NOT TRUE.

An OCed 7970@1125mhz sucks around 230 watts.

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/radeon_hd_7970_overclock_guide,3.html

Now you add the rest of the gear on the PC namely Harddrives/Fans/Pumps and you get your maximum draw.

I am running quadfire 7950s and clocked at 200mhz and I am running on a 1250watt psu tongue.gif

Yea, and your psu is dieing. Your point is?

I don't think you understand. That 1800w is a measured killawatt draw at the wall. So if I'm running full tilt and my cpu is supposed to draw 500w, how do I split the leftover 1300w between 4 300w cards, 150w loop, drives etc etc and this is all before conversion. After conversion there's 200w less to split up!

It's not dieing if I clock my GPUs by 1150mhz@1.2v which makes out to be 30watt drop per GPU that equates to a 120watt drop making the PSU working in it's margin of error.

And damn you TSM I am ordering a LEPA 1600 now mad.gif NEED TO CLOCK MORE!

Too messy... Oh the days where I had three cheap psu powering my system... one powers the cpu and mobo... another the gpu... a third one the fans+harddrives...

OCN should be renamed OCD..... Everybody who starts posting develops OCD tongue.gif

Over priced and performance isn't as good as HK, AC, and Koolance imho. XSPC is an option as I like how they look, performance is good, and its priced nicely. Plus I can use a link system for xspc cards.

Well, I had the chance to switch to SB-E but the reviews I read have no significant advantage in gaming (2600k/2700k/3770k vs 3820). Plus, my cpu is a pretty good one and i didn't want ot let it go. Good thing the Sniper3 Z77 is priced very good smile.gif

I made the switch to SB-E I have no regrets. While Gaming performance is subjective I like the boost in rending and other tasks. 3820 is a great chip and is just as powerful as the 2700k I think you would benefit more from the SB-E with Quadfire then you would from the Z77... I say if the option is still open make the switch! Newegg has referb. RIVE boards for 290$ if you catch it right.

didn't see a difference when i had x79 Asrock and a RIVE. Its not worth the extra cost imho for my gaming needs smile.gif. I will say that SB=E runs a bit cooler then SB biggrin.gif (well, the new stepping ones); I even sold my 3770k as I bought it first without going to the reviews and learning not much difference from my 2700k.

Well if its just a gaming rig and you don't do much else on it then yeah no point. I enjoy the extra cores for e-peen but I also utilize them a couple times a week. Yeah IB.... enough said. Hopefully IB-E is different. However I would think that the extra lanes of the X79 would provide more performance with having 4 gpus? Correct me if Im wrong.
