I could be wrong but I suspect it is because iOS is much more optimized than Android due to minimal fragmentation, making similar spec'd hardware much more efficient.

We see this all the time, current gen iOS devices are always 'technically' inferior to Android devices and yet they manage to stand toe to toe in those silly synthetic benchmarks everyone cares so much about.

Or it could be that these are the only phones they've tested the game on so far, who knows.
