Any reports of Steelseries Sensei wearing out?

Thread Starter
There have been a report from a user in Singapore that his Sensei top coat have worn off after 4 months. Apparently he's not the first one, his friend also faced the same issue as well. Anyone here experienced this yet?

I have seen similar reports in my local forum: http://www.hkepc.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=1880858&extra=page%3D1

Nevermind the Chinese, just look at the pics.

For an $80 mouse that's unacceptable.

I sometimes wonder...

I've had friends with similar problems whereas I'm so insanely clean with my gear that I never had issues like it. Though, you would indeed expect a bit more durability from a mouse in that price category.

Yes, I have the exact same problem in the exact same spot (below the SteelSeries logo), though not as huge yet (9 months of use). I sweat a LOT.

They really should ditch these Omron micro-switches though. I've had double clicking issues in THREE buttons so far (left, right, and middle buttons).
I've managed to fix the left and right buttons by disassembling the mouse, opening the micro-switch and manually fixing them.
The first one to fail, the left button, failed within 3 months from purchase (I couldn't return it because a friend brought it to me from Paris).

I'm unable to fix the middle button because it's too hard to remove the scroll wheel from it's place.

Very disappointed with SteelSeries.

Though it's a fact that most high-end mice use Omron micro-switches, I really have no idea why they keep using this POS... mad.gif

EDIT: For your viewing displeasure, here it is:

Well to be fair, I've never seen any kind of coating resistant to sweaty hands.

I wonder if the Fnatic edition has this problem as well? It looks like it might be actual black plastic, and not just some black coating.

Don't mean to hijack, but are there any chances any mice with some better sensors coming up in the future? no native acceleration avago 9800's or pixarts please. I love SS shapes for the most part. The xai is one of my all time favorites, but the sensor makes it a no-go. It's a shame that such a big company doesn't make a single mouse with (closer to) 1:1 movement
