FX-8350 Heat problems - Page 3

Hey Denebz nice to see a new member on the site, really appreciate the advice, but I think you mis-understood my post. I found the reason for the H80i not cooling well I had turned one of the fans wrong. they were both blowing towards the radiator right at each other realy noob thing to do on my part. But hey every one makes mistakes.I realy apprecitate all you guys and your advice and just for FYI the temps are doing a lot bettet got it overclocked to 4.1Ghz last night stable witha a CPU temp of 31C and load temp of 52C (core temps are 13C idle and 33C load) with a room temp of 20C going to stay at it and see how high I can overclock the other thing. The other thing I was doing wrong was letting the bios control the voltages (had them all on auto because I wasn't comfortable messing around with them my last computer was a core 2 duo on a Asus P5B Deluxe.) But I've done a lot of reading thanks to the guys on here for the links, and am now up to speed. so consider this thread closed.

On 4.2ghz on my AMD Phenom ii X4 965 I idle 29-33c and full load 55c and thats on really high voltage like 1.548v on my phenom im really pusing it., if I open my room balcony door and let cold air get it my temp will get down to 45c full load xD, (its winter here). I still think you apply the thermal paste in the wrong way, and btw i suggest you to do this.
Step 1): Buy the arcticlean kit looks like this.
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/4147NSxt3zL._SL500_AA300_.jpg
Step 2): Clean the CPU very good, make it shine almost as you can see yourself trough it.
Step 3): Buy the Artic MX -4 thermal paste, one of the best paste out there and its better then the artic silver 5 and it has no curing time, the silver 5 has almost 1 month curing time and the temp will drop down later. So MX-4 is better, its also non conductive and wont harp your componets if you accedently dropped somewhere on your motherboard or cpu pins etc.
Step 4): H80i is ****, its not a good watercooler, even my budget 212 hyper evo is better. (With good fans tho).
Step 5:) If you gonna use the H80i, and after you cleaned the cpu good, put a small pea size of paste in the dead center of the cpu not to litle but not to much either, put it a litle more then a pea size., dont touch the paste and install ur h80i and let the paste spread with the weight of the h80i.
With all this you should get a good temps, I dont think anything is wrong with your cpu, u are just doing it wrong, and probably letting air in paste betwee heatisnk and thermal.

I have an original H80 which easily keep my temps in check @ 5ghz, I wouldn't really call it bad. As the OP said he got it under control. Although you might be able to do it, I'd like to see a Hyper 212 cooling something with around 1.45-1.5v going through it.

I bought FX 8350 and using it on M5A97 Pro R2.0, What I have seen is that temps easily reach 50C while running Prime95, (In-place large FFTs) but while folding on SMP Client it is around 41C.
My Cooler is Hyper N620 Cooler Master.

I am definitely finding it hotter than my 955BE @ 3.6 with same Cooler but different Motherboard.
