Makes me wonder if anyone bothered to make graphic mods for FC3? Such as injector or ENB series?
Isnt there an ENB for it, like the one with AC3 etc?
Anyhow, the game needs some mods tthat improve the distant visuals, add more variety in nature and less ugly grass and repeated bushes.
I think the Sweet FX injector works for it.

Well, I seem to just be getting ignored cause I'm new frown.gif

Can someone help me with my Post?

I'd really appreciate it if I could get this game looking decent so I can play. Cause I haven't played it for more than 30 minutes since the day it came out.

This is my first post here. Overclock.net was just coming up with results for almost every Google search I made, like the Catleap monitor and now Far Cry 3 to mention a few. So I decided to join thumb.gif
I preordered Far Cry 3 from Ubi site for Digital Download.
However sadly enough, I haven't being able to play the game for more than 30 minutes in all since it released because of many visual/performance flaws which take away from the whole experience. So I'm waiting to find a fix before I get immersed in the game.
I made this 3 minutes video to show the issues I'm having. Shadow flickering, Textures appearing and disappearing and weird lightning in wrong places.
If I could just fix the Textures Appearing and Disappearing, (In the Video see Stove, and Trees) then I would be happy enough with that.
NOTES:
1)I'm using latest Nvidia Drivers 310.70 (Which runs 5c hotter)
2)CPU is not OC
3)The same issue happens with OC GPU (Gtx 680) and Stock GPU settings
4)Nvidia Global Panel is all set to default.
5) Ubiplay and Far Cry 3 are all updated
6) I have tried running the game in DX9 and DX11 but had no results
Is about the only game that I have had this type of persistent visual defects, which just take away from the whole experience, which is why I haven't played it.mad.gifHere are my System Specs. I couldn't find how to edit my signature.
CPU-Intel ® Core i7 3770K 3.5 (Soon to be OC)
MoBo-ASUSTeK P8Z77 V-LK
GPU-EVGA GTX680 2GB
Memory-Corsair Vengeance (2X4GB) DDR3 1600
OS-Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
PSU-CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750
Monitor-Asus VE248H 24" 2ms Full HD
Mouse-Razer Abyssus with Goliathus mouse Pad
HDD-SAMSUNG Spinpoint 1TB 7200RPM
Case-Rosewill Blackhawk Case
SSD-Pending

You are not getting ignored because you are new. It's more like no has a new answer to your problem. Far Cry 3 is hardware roulette. The one consistent fault is framerate dips. Then there's the LOD transition (your stove, the box, etc.) that is not so great, especially on lower spec cards..

There are quite a few suggestions on improving performance, mostly by disabling PostFX (Setting to "Custom" settings, PostFX to LOW, exit game. Edit .xml file so that PostFX="false", make xml "read only", resume playing...

Blindrage published his settings for his hardware.

-Select "Custom" IN GAME w/in gfx settings
-"PostFX=FALSE" in XML gamer profile
-Switch to HBAO
-Shadows @VeryHigh
-Turn OFF Vsync in game
-Buffer 5 Frames in advance, IN-GAME settings

-ADD Farcry3_d3d11.exe in nVidia Control Panel, Manage 3D Settings
-Turn ON Adaptive Vsync in nVidia Control Panel
-Turn ON Triple Buffering in nVidia Control Panel
-Turn ON "Single Display Performance Mode" in nVidia Control Panel
-Turn ON "Prefer Maximum Performance" in nVidia Control Panel
Finally, once all settings are complete and you're happy with performance, set XML to READ only.
My specific problem with my single 680@1440p was that it would randomly drop GPU usage and play at 30FPS intermittently. Was driving me nuts and it works like a charm now, so above are my settings that cured+added FPS.
*All of my settings are at Ultra except Shadows which are at Very High and the said tweaks above. 50-60 FPS@1440p, Adaptive.
*I have collective mods 1.6 release compatible with 1.0.4 - latest Ubi Patch.

Even after all that, the LOD transition as you get closer to things, it's not as bad on top hardware, but just happens at a greater distance. Pretty much a case of living with it...AFAIK.

hey buddy

Just watched your video. Can you try this for me and let me know how you go and we can try different things as we go along. To me it looks like a LOD BIAS issue....

  • Download latest Nvidia Beta here
  • Remove your Nvidia drivers completely
  • Reboot
  • Install the drivers you downloaded
  • Don't adjust any video settings in Nvidia Control Panel
  • Backup the GamerProfile.xml from \documents\my games\far cry 3
  • Delete the original file GamerProfile.xml
  • Fire up Far Cry 3 (it will re-create the file)
  • Set your preferred resolution, don't enable any other video settings - only resolution

Holy Gucamole lol

Well, is late here right now. But I'll most definitely give this a try tomorrow morning after a full night of rest and with more time. That way I don't rush it.

I will let you know tomorrow what the results were.

Cheers!
