Also make sure that XML is set to read only, otherwise it will reset.
Most of the tweaks are in two XML files which are buried inside the patch.dat file:
  • defaultrealtreeconfig.xml
  • defaultrenderconfig.xml
Most of the tweaks can't be modified in the GamerProfile.xml, this is code like:
  • TerrainLodScale="0.5"
  • TerrainDetailViewDistance="1024" (From 512, detail rendered further out.)
  • TerrainDetailBlendViewDistance="128" (From 64, details rendered further out.)
  • TerrainMaxErrorTolerance="0.01f" (From 0.02, very slightly better terrain model quality.)
ETC, ETC...


When the bat injects the mods, does this mean 2 XML files are active or does coding from both inject into the existing XML on my machine?

When you execute Far Cry 3, it will reference a patch.dat file. This dat file contains two XML files by default as well as a ton of other files, with my mod I have basically incorporated visual tweaks from JonasBeckman.

These two XML files exist by default, as does the patch.dat file. The GamerProfile.xml contains a few tweaks that don'rt exist in the defaultrealtreeconfig.xml and defaultrenderconfig.xml files.

That is a job and a half! Something that would take hours of time... It took me a week to compile all of the mods via dunia 2, an application that unpacks and packs dat files as well as other wonderful things. If you want to give it a shot, read up on dunia 2 and learn how to merge FC3 mods, biggest time consumer will be working out were the mods you wish to remove actually reside.

I've been playing around with this game on my 6990 and a 7970. For a while my 6990 was really jittery but after hours of tweaking I've now got it to the point where it's really quite smooth and is scaling well with CF, and that's without using the Bioshock profile. My 7970 is also smooth, but I get absolutely crazy tearing with it when my fps drops below 60 (which it often does), so it looks as though my 6990 is staying in my rig. Quite bizarre as you'd expect the new single GPU solution to be a whole lot better.

Anyway, with my 6990 I enable Dynamic Vsync with RadeonPro, and I disable Vsync and render ahead limit in game completely. I also disable MSAA in game and force 2x using RadeonPro. Playing on the Very High preset my fps is locked at 60 with occasional dips to 50. It feels fairly good to play, but not perfectly smooth. I wonder if the bioshock profile would help with that

Edit: Aah I saw another post you made saying to force through CCC, I'll give that a try

Are you using MSAA with DX9 mode...? Just cause it doesn't work.

I tried the Bioshock.exe trick and it does feel better... but there is a ton of sections that are still stuttery. I think that my problem wasn't so much scaling as it is just stuttering.

I still am getting 100s fps, but with Vsync enabled, I'm always dipping back and forth.

DX9 mode yeah, DX11 seems broken. It seems to work though, I can easily tell the difference if I disable it. Maybe I'm retarded and it doesn't work but I could honestly swear it does lol

It doesn't though. It can't work because of the deferred lighting system. That's the one HUGE issue I have with playing in DX9. It's a jaggied mess, even with using SMAA, it's not enough. redface.gif

I know it's greyed out in game but have you tried forcing it through RadeonPro? If you haven't give it a try, otherwise I have definitely lost my mind
