Reduce your oc by 75MHz on the GPU & memory & check. Could be an overheating issue.

I actually was at stock :O. I only switch to my sig rig's OC via my MSI ABI 2nd profile when I feel I need it, and I didn't think I needed it in this game. Temps were also under 65c...hmmm

To increase FPS and keep MSAA @ 4X, my suggestion is to reduce Post FX to medium (Custom settings).

Hey everyone, first post and i'm sure this has been covered but there's just way too many pages to look through so i apologize if i seem lazy. Built my pc 4 days ago. i7 3770k with an overclock at 4.6, gpu is the gtx 660ti power edition from msi. I'm no expert at all but i would like to know, if someone doesn't mind helping, what settings to run for this game. It was running in ultra for a few but then switched it to very high since the game was,,,,i guess lagging? or stuttering during cinematic scenes.

Far Cry 3 is very demanding. With a heavily overclocked 670 (faster than a stock 680) I am getting only 25 FPS with everything max and 8X MSAA on 2560x1440p resolution.

Oh wow, I thought i was doing something wrong. There's no way to benchmark the game? I have seen other games that have a benchmark option in the menu but this one doesn't seem to have it.

No prob. smile.gif

For 1080p with your setup, Ultra will cause a lot of stutter due to the FPS dips (40-50FPS range with drops in the 20s, sometimes 10s).
Adding MSAA will make it unplayable most of the time. You can check this by running a program like AB and setting the OSD for FPS in the monitoring tap.

Try Ultra in DX9 (I couldn't tell the difference between the two to be honest) and it will be much smoother, even with 4X MSAA.

Ill try the dx9 option later when I'm back from work lol. I don't mine the stuttering too much I guess I felt like I spent a lot on my rig and it's still not enough. Game looks beautiful though with so much detail.

When I use HDAO, I get a persistant square grey shadow on the bottom third of my screen, any ideas? Happened with multiple drivers including current beta and two different cards, 660Ti + 680.
Swear I didn't register just to ask this dumb question, long time lurker! wink.gif
