I think they got rid of that and the whole malaria thing too.

I'm so addicted to this game right now, can't wait to get off work.

Man what a huge game, doing all of the main mission stuff now. I love going stealthy, there is just something so satisfying about it. That silenced Vector, the silenced M700 and the bow are my weapons of choice right now.

Had a quick go on it this morning before going off to work. Was seeing FPS lingering around the ~52 mark with everything slammed up the the max, but haven't installed the 12.11 CAP2 profile yet so will see how much it improves after installation. Couldn't be happier about snapping up that second 7970 on sale kungfu.gif
will post pics this weekend, or later today after work thumb.gif

Edit: Ok I wouldn't say HARD, but still, a hard hit for sure, about 10 fps, same scene, 8xmsaa, from 30-31 to 40-42fps..

Just lifted from Wikipedia.

Alpha to coverage is a multisampling computer graphics technique useful for situations where dense foliage or grass must be rendered in a video game.

This technique uses the alpha channel of textures as a coverage mask for anti-aliasing.

Alpha to coverage multisampling is based on regular multisampling, except that the alpha coverage mask is ANDed with the multisample mask. Alpha-to-coverage converts the alpha component output from the pixel shader to a coverage mask. When the multisampling is applied each output fragment gets a transparency of 0 or 1 depending on alpha coverage and the multisampling result.

So there you go.
It's for the leaves in it.

Guru 3D review the Far cry 3 with AMD's new Drivers, also, CPU scaling.

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/far_cry_3_graphics_performance_review_benchmark,7.html

Seems any i7 does about the same. Good to see CPU not bottlenecking.
about the graph (Click to show)
As you can see our good old Core i7 965 Extreme processor is on top, marginally. That one is default overclocked though at 3.75 GHz. The Core i7 2600K and 3770K remain awfully close. What people do not realize is that the Nehalem technology used in the Core i7 965 is still being used in Sandy and Ivy bridge processors. Sure there have been die-shrinks and subtle nuance difference in the Turbo frequencies, but grosso modo the performance on these processors will be the same.

If you wonder why ? Well, because the GPU doesn't require more processing power at a certain point. So none of these processors are a bottleneck for the GPU in any way or form.

For AMD that is a completely different picture, even the latest high-end AMD FX 8350 processor still is not in symbiosis with what the GTX 680 really needs. At 1920x1200 its already 10~15% slower then a Core i7 2600K or 3770K.

When we take the fastest Phenom II X4 processor, the 980BE, we again lose out on performance. Then a very affordable Athlon II X4 645 shows These an average of 43 FPS. These differences are significant alright.

Those Cassowaries in FarCry 3 are vicious:

Does the weapons degrade or get destroyed as fast as far cry 2??? Its like you get through 3 clips in far cry 2 and the weapon explodes on your or jams every 3rd shot... Not so in FC3?

They don't degrade or jam like they did in the other Far Cry games smile.gif

So it seems that if you are running MSAA then keeping alpha coverage turned up isn't necessary. Hmmm will try this when I get home hahaha

Make sure during coop one of you has a Bow. Stealth is amazing on Coop, when there are 2 or 3 guards, one gets an arrow to the face whilst the other gets stabbed from behind simultaneously, and then you rush the third to stop him shouting out. Sick.
