FX 8350 5 Ghz - H100i - Possible CPU Bottleneck in future - Required PSU?

Alright, Alot of questions. I'm looking into building a new rig with a 8350 and H100i. I currently have a i7 930, and after a long time i'm finally going back to AMD.

My questions are:

- With a H100i, Will I be able to reach 5ghz+ in the safe zones?

- Currently I have a GTX 680 2gb, I'm pretty sure it won't bottleneck me as it sits now, but in the future If i were to SLI these, do you see a Bottleneck happening?

- With the 8350 @5ghz+, ontop of 2 GTX 680s, do you think 750W would be enough? I know the 8350 is power hungry, but the GTX 680 (I do not plan on overclocking due to the lack of support for it) is pretty well off on power.

Any thoughts and comments are a huge help. I'm aware i'll probably get a "go with an i5, i7, ect ect", but if you must, go into detail please besides just having a bias fanboy comment. Thanks.

I think if your chip is capable of 5ghz you will be ok with the H100i, I have the 8150 at 4.8ghz with decent temps (60-64*C max load) with an H100 push/pull setup, and the 83xx seems to clock slightly better. I don't think you will observe any real bottleneck with a single card but these chips do not seem to do well with multiple GPU's, thats just the reality of it.

750w should be fine as long as it is a good quality PSU.

I'm looking at a corsair CX750. You believe the 8350 will bottleneck with 2 GTX 680s? Do you have any benchs? I've been after 8350 benchs but there doesnt seem to be many besides pre release/week of release.

IMHO graphics cards will be the bottleneck more often than the cpu. While my 1055T at 3.8 (or 3.5) isn't nearly as good for gaming as Intels offerings or the newer AMD cards I still get full 100% usage from both of my 6950s in all my games. SLI 680s are definately better than CF 6950s but so is that 8350 at 4.5+

That was my thought. Theres just very little material out on the 8350.

As stated above, the PSU should work, but any further expansions will be problematic, it is cutting it pretty close.

The CPU will not be bottlenecked, you don't need to worry about that at all, the most important thing with bottlenecking s the clock which is pretty high on the 8350, especially if you get it to 5GHz (which you should be able to unless you are totally unlucky with the silicon lottery).

Please look at the link, its a Turkish forum but mostly images.
The answer is yes, but i think H100i cant handle the heat for a stable work.
With Prime95, heat hit the 70 Celsius after 5-10 seconds rolleyes.gif (With H100i)

Here is the system, some tests and bios screens

hi Aortic,

i have a fx-8320 oc @4.5 paired with a gtx 670,
my friend has the i7 930 @ 4.4 paired with the 7970.

in games , we have similar performance ( fps ) .

i dont think its an upgrade, most likely a sidegrade.....unless you deal with heavy multi-threaded programs.

if i was you, maybe just oc your 930 with the h100 over 4.0ghz, get a ssd and wait for something that worth an upgrade.

but wait for veteran opinions , maybe they are going to say its better.smile.gif
