OCZ Vertex 4 256GB vs. SAMSUNG 840 (Pro) Series 256GB

Thread Starter
I am taking full advantage of the sales this week end but not sure which one is better. I hear the Samsung 840 comes with farcry 3 and that makes it a deal breaker there. Just not sure if the pro version comes with farcry 3 or not. Is there much difference between pro and non pro. Plus my main question here is which of the two has better performance and reliability, the ocz or the samsung.

Non pro comes with lower quality parts. I think it would be better to go for 830s. What are you looking for? Speed, capacity, budget?

Right now and for a limited time the 840 Pro 256 comes with an Assassin's Creed coupon. With newegg discount code the 840 Pro will be 256.49. And right now the vertex 4 is 159.99.
In real world everyday usage you will not notice a difference between the 2 SSDs.

speed capcity quality
if it isn't a noticeable speed difference then i would opt for a free copy of farcry 3

sry for double post but to sum it up i want a super fast ssd that is either 250gb or 256gb. I can stretch my budget to 250$ maybe a little higher. I would rather stay around 200$ if i can get the pro version with farcry 3 it would be a deal breaker cause that saves me the 60$ i am going to spend on that. I do a lot of transferring of files between 2 drives.(mods, music, and i back up tons of data.) I have a crappy hdd thats 150gb it holds me over size wise for all my mods but its so slow. Thats why i want another ssd. Right now i have a 128gb m4 that gets full quickly. I was going to use the 250gb+ drive for os and games/programs and use my 128gb for mod and data storage. I just move mods in and out of games all the time so i want crazy fast speed between the to. So in a nut shell I need a 250gb+ ssd that will be just as fast as my 128gb which is 550mb/sec read 515mb/sec write. Either of the two(samsung and ocz) are ok if they can match or best those speeds on my mushkin 128gb ssd. <- thought i had a m4 crucial but its a mushkin. Its a good drive once i worked out the kinks but its capacity is just lacking.

Then w/e is cheaper. Most of them are so close in spee you wont notice the diff unless uou benchmark it. Take a look at the tier list on tom's hardware.

That is every current SATA 3 SSD...

You can spend ~150 on a 240/256GB drive...

Those speeds are only with FULLY UNCOMPRESSED DATA. Real world your speeds are lower, especially write. You'd be disappointed with what AS SSD shows you with fully compressed data. lol

I'd just look at what is on sale for the cheapest of any of these: http://www.overclock.net/t/1179518/seans-ssd-buyers-guide-information-thread#user_SeansrecommendedSSDs

OP said he has a Crucial m4 128GB. Dunno how he's getting 500+MB/s writes on it, though.
